Transfer Round-Up: Nigeria Stars Who Could Be On The Move

The January transfer window has just two weeks remaining until it slams shut, but there is still more than enough time for clubs to get deals over the line.

Here is a round-up of Nigeria stars who could be on the move before the deadline at the end of the month.

Ola Aina – Roma

Roma are looking at the possibility of acquiring one of Premier League’s top defenders this season. The Serie A side have reportedly shifted their attention to Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Aina’s contract with Forrest is set to expire in 2025, making him a likely target for Roma who have prioritised the addition of a new defender to the squad.

Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has made first enquiries with the player’s entourage and is monitoring his situation at the English club.

He has been in excellent form this season, helping Forest climb to third place in the Premier League, just six points behind leaders Liverpool.

Samuel Chukwueze – Aston Villa

Aston Villa are showing interest in AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze, with Unai Emery reportedly ready to gamble on the Nigerian forward in the January transfer window, according to CalcioMercato.

Villa could soon free up space for a new winger with Jaden Philogene’s move to Ipswich Town imminent.

Emery knows Chukweze well from their time together at Villarreal and reportedly desires a reunion with him at Villa Park this January.

Chukwueze has disappointed new Milan boss Sergio Conceicao, as he reportedly prefers a different type of winger, increasing the likelihood of his move to the Premier League.

Victor Osimhen – Man United

Man Utd could be a destination for Osimhen, as according to The Sun, Man Utd could be able to sign Osimhen from Napoli with Marcus Rashford heading the other way in a swap deal between the clubs.

The interest in the potential swap is reportedly being pushed by Napoli head coach Antonio Conte, who could reunite him with former Man Utd teammates Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku.

Victor Osimhen has had an impressive start to life at Galatasaray after making a season-long loan switch from Napoli in the summer. His 12 goals in 16 games have meant that top clubs around Europe have been linked with a move for him in this transfer window.
