With AFCON bringing together the very best talent from across the continent, debates around standout players are never far away.
In his latest chat with Bet9ja, Super Eagles legend Victor Ikpeba was asked a simple but loaded question: if you had to build a five-a-side team using only players from this year’s AFCON, who makes the cut?
Ikpeba’s selections blend experience, physicality, and elite quality at both ends of the pitch, with room for flair and intensity in between. And unsurprisingly, Nigeria are well represented in his team!
In goal, Ikpeba went with Morocco’s Yassine Bounou, a proven tournament performer with experience at the highest level. Across the back, he paired Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey with Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi, combining raw power with relentless attacking output from defence.
In midfield, Ikpeba opted for South Africa’s Teboho Mokoena, a player he believes offers balance, discipline, and leadership in tight spaces. Leading the line is Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, whose physical presence, movement, and goal threat make him an automatic pick in any small-sided team.
