Victor Osimhen Officially Signs for Galatasaray in Record-Breaking Deal

It’s official: Victor Osimhen is now a Galatasaray player – permanently.

After months of speculation, negotiations, and noise from rival clubs, Galatasaray have sealed the deal to bring the Nigerian superstar back to Istanbul in what is one of the biggest signings in Turkish football history.

Osimhen touched down in Istanbul on the evening of Wednesday, 30 July, where he was greeted like royalty at Atatürk Airport by thousands of screaming fans. Now, the move is done, the contract is signed, and Galatasaray have their new king.

€75 million deal, with clauses and bonuses

The final agreement between Napoli and Galatasaray is worth a reported €75 million, including €5 million in performance-related bonuses. The Turkish giants will pay €40 million upfront, with a further €35 million due by 2026.

Napoli, keen not to see their former striker lining up against them in Serie A anytime soon, have included a clause that prohibits Galatasaray from selling Osimhen to another Italian club before 2027, with financial penalties in place if it’s breached.

It’s a landmark move for Galatasaray, and a massive statement to the rest of Europe.

“I am home and happy”

After spending the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray and winning over fans with his goals and passion, Osimhen made it clear this summer he wanted to return – despite interest from Saudi Arabian clubs and several European heavyweights.

Speaking to journalists after landing in Turkey, the 26-year-old said:

“I don’t know how to describe my feelings. I’m so excited to arrive at a place I love. I am home and I am very happy. I’m glad to be back here. I was offered a lot of money, but my love for Galatasaray is greater.”

The Super Eagles striker also thanked the club’s board and management, including vice president Abdullah Kavukcu, sporting director George Gardi, and head coach Okan Buruk for pushing the move through.

“I thank the fans who wanted me. I’m happy to continue with Galatasaray. My story goes on.”

Galatasaray are reportedly planning a special unveiling ceremony for Osimhen at RAMS Park during Saturday’s high-profile friendly against Lazio. The atmosphere is expected to be electric, with the club rolling out the red carpet for their new striker.

Osimhen is expected to earn €15 million per year, not including bonuses – a deal that underlines his superstar status and Galatasaray’s ambitions heading into the new season.

A new chapter begins

Osimhen scored 18 goals in all competitions during his loan spell last season and was central to Galatasaray’s title charge. Now, with his future settled and the full backing of the fans behind him, all eyes are on what the Nigerian forward can achieve in 2025/26.
