This month’s UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers have come to an end, meaning those who haven’t yet qualified will have to wait until next months international break for qualifying round nine and 10 to take place. However, at the end of this break we now have nine teams who have already booked their place in Germany for Euro 2024.
Read on as we look at those nine sides who have already qualified for next summer’s competition:
Germany
As the host nation for the upcoming tournament Germany were given automatic qualification, and so didn’t have to worry about the long and competitive qualifying campaign to book their place in the competition. This is unlike the other 53 teams who have had to go through the qualifying rounds as they look to be one of the remaining 23 teams to enter the tournament.
Germany will be hoping they can make the most of them hosting the competition, as they look to break the record for most European Championships won by a single nation. This being as both Germany and Spain currently sit on three apiece.
Group A
From Group A, Spain and Scotland have already taken the two qualification spots as they dominated the group. Both sides have won five of their six games and lost once, with their losses coming against one another.
There is still much to play for in the remaining games of this group though, as either side can still finish top of the group. Whoever finishes top will be put into pot one for the tournament’s group draw, and would mean they couldn’t be drawn against the other top performers from the qualifying round.
Group B
France are the sole side to have qualified from Group B as they have had the perfect record in their six games so far. With this, they have also guaranteed themselves a place in pot 1 for December’s draw, with their points tally and head-to-head record against Netherlands meaning no side can now finish above them.
Group C
England guaranteed themselves a place in Germany last night as they beat reigning champions Italy 3-1 to secure a top two spot. With their remaining two games being against Malta and North Macedonia, they’ll be confident they can finish top of the table come the end of qualifying.
Group D
Turkey have ensured they will finish in the top two come the end of qualifying, but may still have work to do in their final game against Wales to put them in the favourable pot 1 for Decembers draw.
Group F
Group F is the only other group that has both top spots already taken alongside Group A, as Belgium and Austria have guaranteed a place in the Euros. Similarly to Group A, both sides can still finish top of the table as they currently sit on level points. However, Belgium currently have a game in hand as their match against Sweden had to be abandoned and so they will be confident they can secure top spot.
Group J
The final side to have guaranteed their place in the upcoming European Championships so far is Portugal, who have been the standout performers in the qualifying stage. They have already ensured they will finish top of the group thanks to winning all eight of their games, scoring by far the highest of any team across the 10 groups with 32 goals, and conceding just twice in the process.
