Worst Performing Players in the English Premier League This Season

The 2023/24 English Premier League campaign has come to a close, and we take a look back at five of the worst-performing players throughout the season.

Several players were tipped to have successful seasons on the pitch but disappointingly performed well below par.

It will be interesting to see if any of the players on our list are given another chance to show what they can do, or if they will be shipped off in the summer transfer window.

1. Marcus Rashford, Manchester United

Rashford has had an extremely poor season compared to his usual standards, achieving an average WhoScored rating of 6.69 in the Premier League.

The English winger has scored just seven times in the league this term, compared to his 17 goals last season, which has led to his omission from the England training squad for the Euros.

2. Mykhailo Mudryk, Chelsea

Chelsea signed Mudryk last January for a whopping £89 million, and he has certainly not justified his price tag so far, having been on the bench 13 times in the league due to his poor displays.

The Ukrainian winger is still young but has an average WhoScored rating of 6.67 in the Premier League, which is far below expectations.

3. Antony, Manchester United

Antony has had a season to forget for Manchester United. He has been out of favour and out of form when selected, scoring just once in 29 league games.

The Brazilian winger has an average WhoScored rating of 6.54 in the Premier League, which has left the United faithful extremely disappointed, especially given his £82 million price tag.

4. Evan Ferguson, Brighton & Hove Albion

Ferguson broke into the first team at Brighton last season, performing well and contributing to eight goals in 19 league games, sparking interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

However, the Irish forward has failed to take his chance this term, achieving an average WhoScored rating of 6.49 in the Premier League.

5. Kalvin Phillips, West Ham United

Phillips joined West Ham on loan in January hoping to secure regular minutes ahead of the Euros, but the move has been a disaster, with an average WhoScored rating of 5.89 in the league.

His poor performances in the second half of the season have led to his exclusion from the latest England squad, which does not come as a surprise to most.
