The English Premier League returns this weekend for matchday seven of the 2024/25 season, promising us another round of exciting fixtures. Whether it is clashes between the league’s top teams or battles involving those still searching for points, there is plenty of intrigue in store.
With many of these games likely to contain plenty of drama and action, we’re going to take a closer look at a selection of the matches and pick out our top tips (odds at time of writing):
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool
Mohamed Salah has enjoyed a fantastic start to the 2024/25 season, scoring six and assisting five across in nine appearances all competitions, including four goals and four assists in six Premier League matches.
He heads into this game having scored in each of his last three appearances, and we believe that run will continue against a Crystal Palace side that have conceded nine already this term, while they also sit 18th in the league with just three points.
Mohamed Salah to score anytime, 2.10
Arsenal vs Southampton
Despite facing an extremely tough opening set of fixtures that included games against Aston Villa, Tottenham, Brighton and Manchester City, Arsenal have enjoyed another positive start to the Premier League campaign. They currently sit third in the table with 14 points, just one behind league leaders Liverpool, while they have scored 12 and conceded just five.
Not only are they undefeated in the league, but Mikel Arteta’s men are yet to lose across all competitions this season, including recording a fantastic 2-0 win against PSG in the Champions League last time out.
With the Gunners set to host Southampton on Saturday, who sit 19th in the standings with just one point from six outings, we fancy Arsenal to claim a comfortable victory here and extend their unbeaten start to the term.
Arsenal to win & over 3.5 goals, 1.97
Aston Villa vs Manchester United
Aston Villa’s dream run since Unai Emery became manager in November 2022 has continued at the beginning of this season, losing just one of their nine matches across all competitions, including recording a phenomenal 1-0 win against Bayern Munich in their Champions League fixture last time out.
Manchester United, in comparison, have had a horror start to the campaign, winning just three of their 10 matches across all competitions, losing four and drawing three, including dropping a 2-0 lead to eventually draw 3-3 with Porto in their last match.
That start has seen the pressure mount surrounding Erik ten Hag’s position at the club, and a good result may be needed to keep his job secure on Sunday. However, with Aston Villa coming into this game with huge confidence, while Man United are struggling, we expect a win for the hosts.
Aston Villa to win, 2.22
Brighton vs Tottenham
After a slow start to the season, failing to score in his first three matches, Dominic Solanke has started to find his feet in a Tottenham shirt.
The striker has now netted in three of the last four appearances for the club, only failing to hit the net when he came off the bench with 10 minutes to go against Ferencvaros in the Europa League in their last game.
That will leave Solanke with huge confidence heading into their upcoming fixtures, and with Brighton often conceding plenty of chances (including shipping four goals to Chelsea last weekend), we fancy the new Spurs striker to score his fourth of the season here.
Dominic Solanke to score anytime, 2.85
