The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign started at the beginning of the month and with round one already completed, round two is set to start across Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
A bulk of the games took place on Tuesday as teams take part in their second-round first legs, with just three matches occurring on Wednesday instead. These matches are sure to be full of drama as every team battles to get one step closer to the revamped league phase of this year’s competition, and we’ve picked out our top tips and booking code for the coming games:
PAOK vs Borac Banja Luka
PAOK did not play in the first qualifying round of this competition after securing an automatic pass into the second round last season, while their opponents had a hard-fought two-legged encounter with KF Egnatia that they eventually won on penalties.
Borac Banja Luka will face a much tougher opposition than KF Egnatia when they travel to Greece on Wednesday, especially with PAOK likely coming into this game with plenty of confidence after reaching the quarter-finals of last year’s Europa Conference League.
For these reasons, we believe the hosts will secure a significant first-leg victory to take into next-weeks second match.
PAOK to win & over 3.5 goals, 2.20
Ludogorets 1945 Razgrad vs FC Dinamo Minsk
Both of these sides took part in the first qualifying round, with Ludogorets beating Dinamo Batumi 3-2 on aggregate and Dinamo Minsk dramatically beating Pyunik Yerevan 1-0 on aggregate after scoring a last-minute winner in the second leg.
Despite eventually making it through that tie, Dinamo Minsk showed plenty of vulnerability against a weaker opponent, and with Ludogorets also holding the home advantage in this first leg, we expect them to secure the victory here.
Ludogorets 1945 Razgrad to win, 1.32
Celje vs Slovan Bratislava
These two teams also entered the qualifying rounds in the previous stage, with Celje advancing 7-1 winners on aggregate and Slovan Bratislava winning 6-3 across their two legs.
This game serves as potentially the most difficult to call of all the games taking place on Wednesday, with both sides coming into this game in good form and rarely being beaten in recent times.
For these reasons, we expect this game to be an extremely tight encounter with both sides wanting to remain in the tie ahead of the second leg, and so we believe this one will end all square.
Celje and Slovan Bratislava to draw, 3.40
