Please remind me next time to avoid adding Friday night games to my predictions; they should stand alone; the same treatment is meant for early/lunchtime kickoffs; they are too much of a banana skin.
This weekend, we will Kriss Kross Europe looking for value propositions in Goalscorers and player card markets from some of the big games in the top five leagues.
Our first stop is at the Viola; where two of Serie A’s in form teams go head to head in a bid to stay close to table-topping Napoli in the pursuit of the Scudetto.
Fiorentina have been in fine form of late with Moise Kean in the form of his life; showing there’s life after Juventus; with six goals in his last four Serie A games. Inter come visiting looking defensively solid and ruthless in attack after their first half showing last weekend against Hellas Verona with Marcus Thuram getting a brace.
Lautaro Martinez is the standout performer in this fixture with goals in five of the last six matches vs Fiorentina; he loves to play the Viola and he would be relishing this.
Inter have only lost once in their last six meetings with Fiorentina; with their current form Inter are favourites despite the splendid job Raffaele Palladino has done so far and Fiorentina unbeaten at home so far this season.
My Tip: Lautaro Martinez to score and Alessandro Batoni to be carded.
Roma v Atalanta is our next stop with the Rossineri needing a pick me up. The return of The tinkerman; Claudio Ranieri has not delivered the new manager bounce it was expected to after defeat at title chasing Napoli.
Gasperini’s Atalanta on the other hand are in free scoring form after putting six past Young Boys in Switzerland in the Champions League and also in close touch with the leaders in the Serie A.
Ademola Lookman and Mateo Retegui are one of the in form forwards in the Serie A with 19 goals between them in the Serie A. There’s no looking beyond both of them as potential goal scorers picks especially as Roma have struggled with goals with the investment in Artem Dovbyk underwhelming at the moment.
My Tip: Ademola Lookman to score and Martin De Roon to be carded
Liverpool just put paid to the European Champions on Wednesday evening; looking forward to welcoming the Champions of England who are in perilous times. Pep Guardiola has never been in a situation like this in his illustrious managerial career.
Manchester City are in a mess; winless in six; lost a three goal lead to Feyenoord and thumped at home last weekend by Tottenham Hotspur. A trip to Anfield is never easy not to talk for a team in search of a win at all cost to get a semblance of sanity. The head-to-head between both teams in the last six games is level at two wins a piece and two draws.
Mohammed Salah is the stand-out individual in this fixture with Four Goals in the last six matches against City. On the card front, the absent Rodri would have been a sure bet; but Alexis Macallister is the next sure candidate to get carded.
My Tip: Mohammed Salah to score and Alexis Macallister to be carded.
Real Sociedad lost the Basque derby last weekend to suffer another hiccup in a bumpy season. The highlight of their season was the victory over Barcelona just before the last International break. They face equally inconsistent Real Betis; who look to bounce back from back to back losses to Valencia and Mlada Boleslav.
This is a tie that historically hasn’t produced goals aplenty; so the focus should be more on the dark arts and Goalscorers. There have been six or more cards in Five of the last six meetings between both sides.
This is where our focus should firmly be as it doesn’t look like we would enjoy some goals scoring luxuries.
My Tip: Jon Aramburu to be carded.
De Klassiker always seems to produce as Bayern Munich are somewhat on some kind of redemption; Dortmund are picking things up and looking like contenders again.
Dortmund are currently on a six games winning streak and Bayern look very much equipped to burst that bubble especially after the less than inspirational victory over Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League.
In the Bundesliga, Bayern are heads and shoulders above everyone else with last season seemly a bleep coupled with the way and manner things have kicked off this season.
Bayern would fancy themsevles in this one game and would look to solidify their position at the top of the table and Harry Kane is good value to add to his 20 goals already this season.
Tip: Harry Kane to score and Emre Can to be carded
