UEFA Champions League football returns this week and we took a closer look at Newcastle’s away fixture against AC Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday evening.
The Magpies come into their first matches at this level for 20 years on the back of a narrow 1-0 victory in the English Premier League against a resilient Brentford side, thanks to a goal from Callum Wilson.
AC Milan were on the receiving end of a 5-1 thumping against fierce rivals Inter Milan in their most recent fixture, which certainly did not go down well with their supporters.

AC Milan disappointingly lost 5-1 against rivals Inter Milan at the weekend, with their opponents having too much class and quality in the final third.
The Italian side had a promising start to the 2023/24 campaign, winning their first three games, but could not carry on this good form against a strong Inter side.
Oliver Giroud has proven that he can still cut it at the top level after he has found the back of the net four times and chipped in with two assists in the opening four fixtures in Serie A.
The Magpies have had a slow start to the 2023/24 season, winning twice and losing three times in their opening five fixtures in the Premier League.
Albeit, Eddie Howe’s side have had tough run of fixtures as they have faced Liverpool, Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion away from home, so it will be interesting to see how they fair in the Champions League.
This fixture is a huge one for everyone involved at Newcastle, as it is the first time that the club has been in the Champions League since the 2002/03 campaign.
