Cardiff City

Final

2007/08

In 2008, Cardiff City went against all odds and made it to the final of the FA Cup, which makes them the most recent lower-league side to reach that stage of the competition.

The Bluebirds beat the likes of Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton Wanderers on route to the final, before English Premier League outfit Portsmouth ended up beating them 1-0, thanks to a goal from Kanu in the 37th minute.

Lincoln City

Quarter-final

2016/2017

Lincoln’s FA Cup journey in the 2016/17 campaign epitomises an underdog story, after they were in the National League and miraculously reached the quarter-final of the competition.

On their journey to the quarter-final, the Imps saw off EFL Championship sides, Ipswich Town and Brighton & Hove Albion, before they beat Premier League outfit Burnley at Turf Moor.

Millwall

Final

2003/04

Championship outfit Millwall reached the FA Cup Final for the first time in the clubs history in 2004, where they matched up against Manchester United, who had like likes of Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo in their side.

The Lions could not complete the underdog story after they were beaten 3-0 by United, however their journey to the final of the competition will always be remembered by the clubs faithful.

Wigan Athletic

Winners

2012/13

Against all odds, Wigan Athletic made it to the FA Cup Final in 2013 where they matched up against Manchester City and famously beat them 1-0, thanks to a late goal from Ben Watson.

This FA Cup win from Wigan will greatly be remembered because they were in fact relegated to the Championship in the same season they lifted the trophy, which meant that they would be playing European football despite being in the second tier in England.
