Victor Ikpeba’s FA Cup review: This was a massive result for Manchester United!

The FA Cup rarely fails to disappoint and that was on full display last weekend, with the four quarter-finals producing 20 goals between them. Manchester United pipped Liverpool in one of the most thrilling matches in recent memory, with Amad Diallo netting a dramatic extra-time winner with just seconds left on the clock.

Elsewhere, Chelsea won an entertaining fixture with Leicester City and Manchester City eased past Newcastle, after Coventry’s two extra-time goals saw them pip Wolverhampton at the post in one of the season’s biggest upsets.

We spoke to Bet9ja Ambassador Victor Ikpeba for his thoughts on the matches and where it leaves each club going into the rest of the season.

Manchester United vs Liverpool did not disappoint!

Manchester United’s win against Liverpool had absolutely everything and is a huge victory for The Red Devils. Erik ten Hag’s men haven’t had much to shout about this season – inconsistent in the league and a poor European campaign left a lot lying on this fixture, but they delivered in front of their home fans.

Erik Ten Hag clearly doesn’t have all the players that he wants for his squad, but we don’t know if he’ll be afforded another transfer window at the end of this season. This match was indicative of that – it was hectic and end-to-end with little control, but eventually individual brilliance won the day for United and gave them a great chance to win a trophy this season.

Coventry shock everyone and Chelsea scrape by Leicester

EFL Championship side Coventry were given a bit opportunity to pull off a massive scalp against high-flying Wolves, and waited until the 97th and 100th minutes of the match to win their ticket to Wembley. This is exactly what the magic of the cup is about – smaller teams scoring last minute winners against one of the so-called big teams. Against a faltering Man Utd, you’d give them half a chance of causing another upset in the semi-finals!

Everyone know this hasn’t been an easy season for Chelsea, but they now have another trip to Wembley in their calendar after two late goals sealed the win for them against Leceister. It’s very difficult to back them against the unstoppable force of Manchester City, but you’ve got to be in it to win it, even if it takes a bit of luck to get there.
