Eden Hazard today announced his retirement from professional football and we take a closer look at five of the best moments from his legendary career.
From individual brilliances to trophy winning seasons, Hazard had an impressive career as a player especially during his time with English Premier League giants Chelsea.
Despite hanging up his boots the age of just 32-years-old, the Belgian star has still achieved great things in his career and will go down as one of the best players to play in the English top flight.
Ligue 1 and Couple de France double – 2010/11
Eden Hazard was named Ligue 1 Player of the Season during the 2010/11 campaign after he notched seven goals and chipped in with 11 assists, while being a vital member of the LOSC Lille side that won the league – their first trophy for 56 years.
Premier League and PFA Player of the Year – 2014/15
Chelsea won the Premier League in the 2014/15 season and this was when Hazard announced himself as one of the world’s best players after scoring 14 times and notching 10 assists, which was enough for him to win the PFA Player of the Year award.
Memorable performance against Spurs – 2015/16
Hazard did not have his finest campaign in the 2015/16 season but he will be remembered for his display against Tottenham Hotspur when he came on as a second half substitute and scored a superb goal which helped his side earn a 2-2 draw in a highly contested affair, which of course confirmed Leicester City as league winners.
Europa League win – 2018/19
Hazard’s last season as a Chelsea player was a successful one for the club as they won the UEFA Europa League and on a personal note for the Belgian, he notched up an impressive 31 goal contributions in the league which which enough to earn himself a move to Real Madrid.
Captain Belgium to best World Cup finish – 2018
Hazard was appointed as the Belgium captain for the 2018 World Cup, and he led by example after his three goals, two assists and three man of the match awards was enough to help his side reach the semi-final of the competition, where they finished third – their best ever performance at a World Cup.
