This weekend certainly did not fail to disappoint in the English Premier League and we picked our top three moments.
Although there were four sides that did not feature this weekend due to the FA Cup semi-finals, there is still plenty of drama to be discussed.
We head straight back into Premier League action midweek, with the title decider between Manchester City and Arsenal taking centre stage and you can make proceedings even more exciting at Bet9ja, with more than 200 markets to check out for it.
Spurs smashed
Newcastle United 6-1 Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur travelled to St James’ Park at the weekend and were embarrassingly beaten 6-1, after going five goals down with just 21 minutes played, proving too much of an ask to come back from. It was a toothless display against a Newcastle side who have all but cemented their spot in the top four.
Spurs remain in fifth place in the Premier League, but if Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion pick up points in their games in hand, then they could slip down to seventh.
Vital for the Hammers
AFC Bournemouth 0-4 West Ham United
West Ham United climbed to six points away from the relegation zone after they beat Bournemouth 0-4 on the road, and they have a game in hand over every side below them.
The Hammers went in at half-time three goals up, and Pablo Fornals’ goal in the 72nd minute was enough to ensure victory for David Moyes’ side.
The defeat for Bournemouth has not changed an awful lot in terms of their league position, but Gary O’Neil will certainly be worried with how his side played against a side among them in the relegation battle.
Point gained or points dropped for Arsenal?
Arsenal 3-3 Southampton
The Gunners started the game on Friday night in the worst way possible, going two goals down after just 14 minutes played against bottom of the table Southampton.
Arteta’s side were 3-1 down in the 66th minute but goals in the 88th and 91st minute meant that the sides had to settle for a point each.
The points dropped from Arsenal means that they are now just five points ahead of Manchester City, with their title challengers having two games in hand leaving them with a massive opportunity to overtake the Gunners. And of course, the two meet on Wednesday, in the biggest match of the season!
