Both Liverpool and Bayern Munich will be manager-less at the end of the 2023/24 campaign and Xabi Alonso is a wanted by both clubs, but who will the Spaniard choose?
Xabi Alonso is currently doing a great job with Bayern Leverkusen, as the German outfit are currently top of the Bundesliga by a whopping 10 points, ahead of regular winners Bayern Munich.
Alonso’s success has caught the eye of several top clubs across Europe, but with Bayern and Liverpool both in need of a manager, they are the two obvious options for the 42-year-old. He is the favourite to become the manager of both clubs, although he can only pick one.
Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich have confirmed that Thomas Tuchel will be parting ways with the club at the end of the season which islargely down to the lack of success that he has had while at club, sitting down at second in the league standings.
Xabi Alonso will certainly be at the top of Bayern’s wish list, after he has had great success this term in the Bundesliga with Leverkusen with his side going unbeaten so far with 25 games played.
The German giants will take great care on deciding who to get in as new manager, because of the failure this term if they do not catch up Leverkusen and win the league.
Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp has been manager at Anfield for eight and a half seasons, where he has led the Reds to UEFA Champions League, English Premier League and domestic cup success, so they will certainly be big boots to fill when he leaves.
Alonso definitely went down as a legend at Liverpool in his playing days, where he made 143 appearances and helped them win the FA Cup and the Champions League.
The Liverpool faithful will certainly be fond of the idea at getting Alonso back at Anfield, after his success already in his managerial career and getting a legend back in the door who knows the core values of the club.
Our verdict
We predict that Alonso will make a return to the Premier League to manage his former club Liverpool, as he is on track to win the Bundesliga and might want to challenge himself in the best league in the world.
The Spaniard will know the love and great reception that he will receive at Anfield if he returned, compared to Bayern Munich where if you do not provide instant success, then the board will not hesitate to get rid of you.
