The end of January and the entirety of February sees the English Premier League fixtures ramp up as they come thick and fast once again following the winter break in the previous weeks.
Matchday 22 is the first of five Premier League matchdays to take place this month, occurring across the duration of this week.
The standout games of the matchday see Liverpool take on Chelsea in their first Premier League game at Anfield since Jurgen Klopp announced he will be stepping down at the end of the season.
Elsewhere, high-flyers Aston Villa take on underperforming Newcastle United and Manchester United travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers in a game that has thrown up some tight affairs in recent years.
Read on as we pick out our top tips and booking codes for the upcoming week’s action:
Aston Villa vs Newcastle United
Aston Villa may be going through a slightly indifferent period of late, taking just two wins from their last six games across all competitions. However, they are still one of the best performing sides in the league with the Villains fourth, level on points with Manchester City and Arsenal in third and second position. This is largely thanks to their almost perfect record at home as they remain one of three teams yet to be beaten at home, while they have taken the most points of any team in home games with 28 points from a possible 30.
This record won’t provide any confidence to a Newcastle side who have been abysmal in away games this season. They have won just five points from their 10 away games, leaving them 19th for the most points taken away from home.
With this in mind, we believe that this one will end as a fairly comfortable win for an Aston Villa side who have made Villa Park a fortress under Unai Emery.
Aston Villa to win, 1.94
Liverpool vs Chelsea
Jurgen Klopp announced this week that he will be stepping down from his position as Liverpool manager at the end of the season after nine years in charge. With their upcoming game against Chelsea being the first league game back at Anfield since the news, Liverpool fans are sure to create an uncomfortable atmosphere for Chelsea as they show their support for their manager.
This support is sure to make the players step up even more than they have done in recent games, and with Mohamed Salah still out with injury they will be looking to others to lead the line. One man who has done this job brilliantly in Salah’s absence is Diogo Jota, with the Portuguese forward scoring three and assisting one in his last three games.
With Liverpool sure to create chances in this game, we are backing Jota to grab yet another goal in this one.
Diogo Jota to score anytime, 2.50
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester United
While Manchester United may not have enjoyed a brilliant season so far, one shining light has been that of Rasmus Hojlund. The striker has received very little creative support since joining in the summer but has managed to make the most of the poor service with eight goals this season in just 26 shots.
Hojlund has started getting on the scoresheet more regularly in recent games, scoring three in his last four. With United now facing up against a Wolves side who have conceded 31 goals this season, we fancy Hojlund to get another goal in this one.
Rasmus Hojlund to score anytime, 2.90
