Matchday 19 of the English Premier League comes to a close tonight, marking the official halfway point of the season. The past two day’s of results have seen goals galore with 31 goals scored across the eight games, leaving tonight’s remaining games with a lot to live up to.
There should be no worries about living up to the action of this week’s games though, with the two matches involving some of the best performing sides so far this season. Richarlison has been heavily criticised throughout the 18 months he has been at Tottenham but the Brazilian has started to silence the critics in recent weeks as he’s scored four in his last three games, just one less than he had managed in the previous year and a half. This will come as no surprise to many as Ange Postecoglou has turned this Spurs side into one that creates a huge amount of chances leaving Richarlison with plenty of opportunities as the lone striker.
While Brighton are no easy side to play against, they have conceded 31 goals this season which is more than anyone else in the top half of the table. With this, we expect that Tottenham will be able to create enough chances for Richarlison to continue his goalscoring form.
Arsenal to win, 1.35
Arsenal were top of the table on Christmas day and will be hoping to go into the new year in the same position, but for that to happen they will have to beat West Ham United in tonight’s game. West Ham will also be looking to take the victory though, as a win for them would see them move into sixth place above Manchester United.
Both teams are coming into this one in fine form, both winning three and losing one of their last five Premier League games. However, Arsenal will take extra confidence from the past results in this fixture as they have not lost in the league against West Ham since 2019 and the last time West Ham won at the Emirates Stadium was back in 2015.
While this is sure to be a tight game between two top performing sides, we do expect that Arsenal will be coming into this game with that extra incentive to take the three points and guarantee their place at the top of the table for the turn of the year.
