Our Best XI From The 2023 AFCON Group Stage

The AFCON group stage has come to an end, and we picked out the best XI so far in the competition as we head into the knockout stages of the tournament.

Tunisia had a disappointing AFCON as they failed to make it out the group, but Ali Abdi impressed at left-back, being excellent at the back and also chipping in with an assist.

CM- Sofyan Amrabat, Morocco 

Amrabat has been vital for Morocco in the holding midfield position, as he helped his nation remain unbeaten in the group stage while conceding just once.

CM- Lamine Camara, Senegal 

Camara is just 20-years-old and impressed in the midfield for Senegal as he helped his nation progress into the knockout stage of the competition, also chipping in with two goals.

AM- Mohamed Kudus, Ghana 

Despite Ghana massively underachieving and not making it out the group stage, Kudus found the back of the net twice in two games and was by far his nations standout performer. 

AM- Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Cameroon 

Cameroon progressed into the knockout stageof AFCON and one of their standout performers was Nkoudou, who impressively chipped in with three assists in three games.

AM- Ismaila Sarr, Senegal 

Senegal looked extremely dangerous in attack during the group stage, and Sarr was a main part of this as he chipped in with a goal and two assists in the three games played so far.

ST- Emilio Nsue, Equatorial Guinea

Emilio Nsue naturally plays as a right-back for his club in the Spanish third division but has shown his worth in the attack for his nation and is the current top scorer at AFCON with five goals.
