Top 5 Current International Goalscorers

With club football on a break until the new season, international football has been taking centre stage this past week.

That’s given the best players in the world the chance to boost their goalscoring tally for their respective countries.

We take a look at the top five current players who have scored the most goals at international level.

The Euro 2024 qualifiers continue on Monday and Tuesday. You can bet on hundreds of markets for each game here at Bet9ja.

5. Robert Lewandowski, 78 goals

Number five on the list is Robert Lewandowski of Poland, who has found the back of the net an impressive 78 times in 141 international appearances.

The Polish forward has been a prolific goal scorer throughout the entirety of his career for both club and country, and he is Poland’s all time record goal scorer. He will have a chance to add to that tally on Tuesday night, with Poland in action against Moldova.

4. Ali Mabkhout, 81 goals

Ali Mabkhout just pips Lewandowski to fourth place, with three more goals and he still has plenty of time to add to this goal tally.

The UAE striker has played the majority of his professional career with Al Jazira, where he has scored a total of 208 goals in 279 games.

3. Sunil Chhetri, 87 goals

The next man on our list is Sunil Chhetri who has netted 87 times in 137 games for India, which equates to a goal ratio of 0.63.

Despite being 38-years-old, Chhetri will have plenty more opportunities to add to his tally, with India in SAFF Championship action this month and then have the 2024 Asian Cup to look forward to, so the striker is on course to cross the 100 goal mark.

2. Lionel Messi, 103 goals

Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest player to ever play the game and he has found the back of the net a breathtaking 103 times in 175 international games for Argentina.

The 35-year-old recently won the World Cup with his side where he really showed his class after he scored seven goals to help his country lift the trophy.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo, 122 goals

Cristiano Ronaldo is the man who tops our list and he is the all-time top goal scorer in international football with a whopping 122 goals in 199 caps for Portugal.

The Portuguese forward is certainly heading towards the back end of his career as he is currently 38-years-old and playing in the Saudi league for Al Nassr, but it will take a great effort for any player to pass Ronaldo’s tally. The legendary forward is set to make his 200th international appearance against Iceland on Tuesday.
