It was announced last week that Jose Peseiro has departed from his role as Super Eagles head coach.
Peseiro was in charge of Nigeria for 18 months, and it is safe to say that his time as manager was not all smooth sailing, so the departure has not come as a surprise to many.
However, the former Nigerian boss lead his side to the AFCON 2024 Final before losing to hosts Ivory Coast, which means he can leave with his head held high after this accomplishment.
We take a look at the managers who could replace him as Nigeria boss.
Pitso Mosimane
Mosimane has been linked with the Nigerian job for a long period of time, but the South African has recently taken on a role for Saudi Pro League outfit Abha Club, so it would likely have to be a lucrative offer to get him in the door.
The 59-year-old has previously managed Bafana Bafana on the international stage, but after a somewhat unsuccessful time at the reign, he might be keen to return to an International role to prove that he has what it takes to cut it all that level.
Chris Houghton
Chris Houghton is undoubtedly a name that would excite the Super Eagles faithful, after his extensive experience in the English Premier League with clubs such as Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Irish boss has recently become available due to his departure from the role as Ghana boss after he failed to guide the African nation out of the group stage at the recent AFCON.
Rui Vitoria
Vitoria is currently out of a job after recently parting ways from the Egypt head coach, but the Portuguese manager might be one who the Super Eagles are fond of after his experience in management with Benfica and Spartak Moscow previously.
The 53-year-old has had a successful career as a manager, after he has won an impressive 10 trophies, including the Liga Portugal twice and the Saudi League more recently.
