English Premier League clubs have been extremely busy already in the summer transfer window and we take a look at five signings who could be vital for their new clubs next term.
The transfer window is a great chance for clubs to improve their squads, and sides who will be competing at both ends of the table are expected to carry on with business until the end of the window.
Omari Hutchinson, Ipswich Town
The Ipswich Town faithful would have been thrilled when the news was released that Omari Hutchinson would sign for them on a permanent deal, after his impressive performances last term.
The 20-year-old contributed with 16 goals and assists last term for the Tractor Boys, so him putting pen to paper on a deal with the club could be huge for their chances of survival.
Emile Smith-Rowe, Fulham
Emile Smith-Rose struggled for game time in the last 18 months at Arsenal which was largely down to being out of favour and injury woes – it seems the time was right for him to move on.
Fulham were on the brink of breaking into the top half of the table last term and bringing in a player of Smith-Rowe’s calibre will certainly bolster their chances of doing that in the upcoming season.
Amadou Onana, Aston Villa
Aston Villa secured the signing of Amadou Onana after his impressive displays for Everton last term and Belgium at Euro 2024.
The Belgian midfielder shone in what was a poor Everton side last term, so he could thrive and could be key for Villa if they want to qualify for the Champions League again next term.
Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal
Arsenal’s first signing in the summer transfer window has been left-back Riccardo Calafiori, who was immense for Italy in the recent Euro’s.
The Gunners fell just short of winning the league last term, and the arrival of Calafiori certainly adds strength in depth to the squad, which could be the difference for them next season.
Leny Yoro, Manchester United
Against all odds, Manchester United signed highly rated French defender Leny Yoro, who was also on the radar of Champions League winners Real Madrid.
Madrid were not willing to meet LOSC Lille’s asking price, and United pounced on a player who could be the answer to United’s defensive worries and be a part of the long-term future at the club.
