After seven matchdays of the 2024/25 Premier League season, the title race is already beginning to take shape. As the campaign enters a pause for the second international break of the campaign, now is an ideal time to reflect and assess the title race at this early stage of the term.
The main preseason favourites all find themselves in the mix, while some unlikely contenders have started the season in fabulous fashion, leaving them with an early chance of battling for silverware this term.
In this article, we will be assessing all of those in who have played themselves into having a chance of winning the EPL title race at this early stage:
Liverpool to win EPL title – 4.45
Liverpool have had a brilliant start to the season and currently sit first in the table with 18 points, winning six of their opening seven league matches under new boss Arne Slot.
That form has carried over to other competitions, with Slot’s side impressively winning nine of their first 10 matches across all competitions in 2024/25, including a 3-0 win against Manchester United and 3-1 win over AC Milan.
If Slot’s side can maintain this level of performance, they’ll have a strong chance of competing for the title. However, with it being his first season in charge, some form of decline is anticipated, positioning them as third favourites in the race.
Manchester City to win EPL title – 2.75
Manchester City currently place second in the EPL table, securing 17 points from their first seven matches with five wins and two draws, leaving them as one of just two teams to remain unbeaten at this stage of the campaign.
Their performances have declined in recent weeks, narrowly defeating Fulham after a run of two successive draws to Arsenal and Newcastle United, but Pep Guardiola’s men often improve in the closing stages of the season.
With their huge expertise in winning titles in recent seasons, it is no surprise that they have great odds to win yet another Premier League title this year, though there is one team better positioned.
Arsenal to win EPL title – 2.35
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have come heartbreakingly close to winning the league title in each of the last two seasons, only to eventually fall behind Man City, and they will be hoping this year is finally their time.
They have started the season fantastically, winning five and drawing two of their opening seven matches to sit joint with Man City on 17 points, both remaining the only teams yet to be beaten in the league.
Their fantastic defensive performances have yet again been on display in the league, conceding just six in their first seven games, while their attacking output has been similarly impressive, scoring 15 times already.
Given Arsenal had arguably the hardest run of fixtures to start the season, coming up against Aston Villa, Brighton, Tottenham and Man City, they will be extremely happy to have picked up the number of points they have, and they are now in great standing to go on and finish first this year.
Chelsea to win EPL title – 20.00
Opinions were divided on the prospects of Chelsea’s season before the Premier League kicked off, with Enzo Maresca having limited experience as a manager and Chelsea showing signs of vast problems in recent years.
However, the Blues have got off to an exciting start to the league campaign, losing just one of their opening seven league games, coming against Man City, with four wins and two draws in their remaining fixtures, leaving them fourth in the table with 14 points.
Only Man City have scored more than their 16 goals, while they have conceded just eight in that time, marking a remarkable start for a Chelsea side that many gave little chance of competing with the top teams.
If Maresca can keep his side playing and performing to this level throughout the remainder of the season, then Chelsea could find themselves in the mix for the title come the end of the campaign.
