The English Premier League returns this weekend with just 14 matchdays remaining until the season comes to a close. The battles at the top and bottom of the table have started to take shape in recent weeks and look as though they could be closer than ever as we move towards the end of the season, meaning every game is crucial.
With some huge games taking place this week, we’ve picked out our top tips and booking codes for the upcoming action:
Brentford vs Liverpool
In the absence of Mohamed Salah, there were fears Liverpool may struggle to hit the net quite as often, but one man in particular rose to the occasion. Diogo Jota has been a reliable goal-scorer for the majority of his Liverpool career so far with his worst season still seeing him score once every 162 minutes on average, equalling around a goal every other game.
He has shown this goalscoring skill once again in the past weeks, scoring five goals in the eight games that Salah has missed through his participation with AFCON or the injury he returned with. This fantastic form has us convinced that he will get on the scoresheet once again against a Brentford side who have conceded 10 goals in their last five games.
Diogo Jota to score anytime, 2.50
Manchester City vs Chelsea
Despite having a slightly rocky start to the season by their standards, Manchester City have inevitably hit form and are now coming into this game against Chelsea having won all of their last 11 games across all competitions. Chelsea, on the other hand, are still having an extremely patchy season with them winning their past two games after failing to win any in the three prior.
One thing both clubs do have in common is their high goalscoring numbers, with Chelsea netting 41 in 24 and Manchester City scoring a league-high 56 goals. With the previous game between these two sides finishing 4-4 earlier in the season, we expect this one will also have its fair share of goals. For this reason, we’re backing Manchester City to win and over 2.5 goals in the game.
Manchester City to win & over 2.5 goals, 1.70
Everton vs Crystal Palace
Everton and Crystal Palace face each other on Monday night in a game that matches up two sides who currently find themselves in a fight for survival.
Everton had looked as though they were climbing out of the relegation battle when they won four in a row back in December but since then they have been unable to win in the league, with their only win coming against Monday’s opponents in the FA Cup. This has left them in 18th place with just 19 points. Crystal Palace currently sit five points above the relegation places but their recent form has seen them pick up two wins in their last 13 league games, leaving them edging towards the bottom three.
This game, therefore, could turn out to be a vital result for either side come the end of the season. While both sides do come into this game in poor form Everton will have the advantage of playing at home, where Crystal Palace haven’t been able to win since September 2014. For this reason, we believe Everton will carry on their unbeaten run at home against Crystal Palace and take all three points.
Everton to win, 1.70
