Yesterday saw matchday 31 of the English Premier League kick-off with five matches taking place, with multiple of them seeing sides pick up some crucial points towards achieving their objectives.
Today hosts a further three games, with two holding huge weight in the ongoing title race between Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City. Arsenal have a favourable fixture as Luton Town travel to the Emirates Stadium. At the same time, Manchester City will be visited by fourth-placed Aston Villa in a game that could be vital to keeping them in the title race.
Results for both Luton and Aston Villa will be equally important in avoiding relegation and securing a top-four spot though, while Brentford vs Brighton makes up the third match of the day.
With plenty of drama and action likely to take place, read on as we pick out our top booking codes for today’s Premier League fixtures:
Arsenal vs Luton Town
Arsenal come into this game second in the table following their goalless draw with Manchester City last weekend, but they now have the chance to move back to the top of the league until at least Liverpool’s game tomorrow night. Luton, on the other hand, will be looking to pick up points as they hunt down Nottingham Forest and Everton in their attempt to avoid relegation back into the EFL Championship.
The Gunners won the reverse fixture 4-3 at Kenilworth Road earlier this season, courtesy of a 97th-minute winner from Declan Rice, and they will be hoping that they can take all three points with a much more comfortable victory this time around.
Of the 14 games they have played at home in the league this season, Arsenal have lost just once and conceded only 13 goals while scoring 36. This gives them a huge advantage against a Luton side who have only won twice on the road all season and have failed to pick up a victory since the end of January.
For these reasons, we believe Arsenal will take the victory in this one in a rather comfortable manner.
Arsenal to win, 1.09
Brentford vs Brighton
Brentford and Brighton may be separated in the league by 15 points and six places, but this game is much tougher to call than it appears.
The home side have only won one of their past 10 games, coming as a 2-0 win over Wolves, but an extremely impressive display in their last match saw them rather unfortunately draw with Manchester United despite dominating the game. As for Brighton, they have won just two of their last seven games and have seen a steady fall down the table since the early stages of the season.
While Brighton have only lost one of the five meetings between these sides since the Bees were promoted into the league, Brentford’s impressive performance last time out makes us believe they will win this one.
Brentford to win, 2.45
Manchester City vs Aston Villa
Erling Haaland comes into Man City’s hugely important game against Aston Villa going through somewhat of a goal drought by his standards, having failed to score in any of his last five games for club and country.
The Norwegian’s performances have been rather lacklustre in this time, having an extremely poor game in City’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal last weekend that saw him have just 23 touches of the ball in 90 minutes.
Despite this poor form, it is hard to ever bet against the striker to get on the scoresheet as he has proved time and time again that he is one of the most clinical players the division has ever seen.
Erling Haaland to score anytime, 1.65
