Matchday 26 of the English Premier League takes place over this weekend, with just eight games compared to the normal 10. This is due to the EFL Cup Final taking place on Sunday afternoon where Chelsea face Liverpool, meaning Liverpool and Chelsea’s games were unable to take place.
While Liverpool played their game against Luton Town on Wednesday night in advance of this weekend, Chelsea’s game with Tottenham Hotspur has been postponed until later in the season.
With just eight games taking place, we’ve picked out our best booking codes for the upcoming action:
Manchester United vs Fulham
Rasmus Hojlund’s two goals at Luton Town last weekend saw him become the youngest player in Premier League history to score in six consecutive games, beating Erling Haaland and Thierry Henry.
The striker struggled with his start to life at United, unable to find the net in the league before Christmas. His first came in the Boxing Day comeback against Aston Villa and he’s not looked back since, scoring eight in his last eight games across all competitions.
This goalscoring run has helped Manchester United into a good run of form, winning all of their last five. With this improvement in performances and results for Man United we believe that they will win this game against Fulham, and with the way Hojlund has been playing recently, we expect him to get on the scoresheet once again.
Rasmus Hojlund to score anytime, 2.20
Arsenal vs Newcastle United
Before Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League knockout game with Porto, the Gunners had been enjoying an outrageous run of results. Five straight victories saw them defeat Liverpool and West Ham United along the way, scoring an unbelievable 21 goals and conceding just two in this time. However, a disappointing 1-0 loss to Porto in the first leg of their Champions League tie may put a dampener on their spirits coming into this Newcastle game.
While Arsenal may have had their confidence knocked with the last defeat, their record against Newcastle should help boost it back up as they’ve won seven of the last 10 meetings. The Gunners will also be looking to rectify the poor result against Porto in this one and for these reasons, we believe Arsenal will win this one.
Arsenal to win, 1.40
West Ham United vs Brentford
Ivan Toney has been a sensation since returning from his suspension for Burnley, scoring in four of the six games he has appeared in.
Brentford are now set to face a West Ham side who have yet to win a game in 2024. In the eight games they have played since the turn of the New Year, West Ham have lost four of them while conceding a huge 16 goals in this time.
Toney is sure to back himself against a side who have been so defensively poor in recent weeks, and we believe he will get on the scoresheet once again for his side.
Ivan Toney to score anytime, 2.90
