Chelsea vs Manchester United
Saturday 22nd October, 17:30
It’s high stakes at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, as two Premier League heavyweights look to pick up crucial points in the battle for a top four spot. Hosts Chelsea currently occupy that fourth spot after extending their unbeaten league run to five games, albeit in slightly disappointing fashion with a goalless draw at Brentford. But it is seven unbeaten in all competitions under Graham Potter, and there have been plenty of causes for optimism.
Defensively, Chelsea have been solid in recent matches, keeping five clean sheets in a row. Since goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has come into the team, he has only conceded three times in eight matches, including a man-of-the-match display against Aston Villa last weekend. Aside from the blank against Brentford, goals have generally been flowing under Potter, and from different sources. Raheem Sterling has four in all competitions this season and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang three, while four players have two each, including Mason Mount who scored a brace against Aston Villa.
For Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United team, it has been a continued improvement after losing the first two games of the Premier League season. Since then, they have only tasted defeat once, which was the 6-3 thrashing away to rivals Manchester City, but beating Tottenham 2-0 at Old Trafford will come as a huge boost. It was an impressive performance by United, with goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes sealing the win, but if it wasn’t for Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, it could have easily been a thrashing. With Casemiro starting to acclimatise to the Premier League, and Marcus Rashford and Antony continuing to impress, United have the players to be a threat to anyone on their day.
The visitors are unbeaten in six matches at Stamford Bridge, having last lost there in 2017. Both teams are in decent form, with Chelsea unbeaten in seven matches and Man United unbeaten in five. United are 3.40 to win with the draw 3.50 if you think their unbeaten streak at Stamford Bridge will continue.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): Chelsea win: 2.15, Draw: 3.50, Man Utd win: 3.40

Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool
Saturday 22nd October, 12:30
Liverpool narrowly avoided an upset at Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup last season, but much has changed since then, and they now meet in the first Premier League match of the weekend.
Diogo Jota’s goal gave the visitors a 0-1 win in that quarter-final tie at the City Ground in March, in what was the two clubs’ first meeting for 23 years.
Forest went on to secure promotion back to the Premier League in May, but their first season in the top flight since the 1998/99 season has brought little joy so far. The first 11 league games have resulted in just one win and they find themselves in the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team are seventh and have not won away from home in the league, albeit they thrashed Rangers 1-7 in their last away match, which came in the Champions League.
There may not be much historical information to go on, given the teams haven’t played in the league for such a long time, but recent form is quite telling. After Forest conceded 21 goals in their first eight league matches, and following several reports that he was close to being sacked, manager Steve Cooper seems to have implemented a more defensive style of football. A 4-0 defeat at Leicester on October 3 has been followed by a 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa, a 1-0 loss at Wolves and a 0-0 draw at Brighton on Tuesday.
Liverpool secured a crucial 1-0 win at home to Manchester City last week and beat West Ham at home by the same score on Wednesday. With this and Forest’s recent change in style in mind, it may be worth looking at odds of 2.62 on under 2.5 goals with Bet9ja.
The gulf in quality between the teams is a sizeable one though, and having won their last three matches, it is hard to look beyond a comfortable win for the visitors. Bet9ja’s handicap odds of 2.50 on Liverpool (Home +2) stands out.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): Nottingham Forest win: 11.25, Draw: 6.10, Liverpool win: 1.26

Everton vs Crystal Palace
Saturday 22nd October, 15:00
Everton have only managed to win one of their five home games so far this season, and have lost the last three matches altogether. Their opponents this weekend have not managed to win any of their four away league matches, and the last two have been goalless draws. The draw at 3.15 with Bet9ja looks a reasonable choice, as does under 2.5 goals at 1.68.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): Everton win: 2.60, Draw: 3.15, Crystal Palace win: 2.93
Manchester City vs Brighton
Saturday 22nd October, 15:00
All of the hosts’ seven home matches this season have ended in victory, with City scoring a whopping 31 goals. Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is still searching for his first win in charge after securing two points from four games. A Manchester City handicap of -2 at 2.24 looks to be decent value, and Erling Haaland is well priced at 3.35 for first goalscorer, having notched up 20 goals so far already this season.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): Man City win: 1.19, Draw: 7.20, Brighton win: 14.00
Aston Villa vs Brentford
Sunday 23rd October, 14:00
With just seven goals scored so far this season, only Wolves have found the net fewer times in the Premier League than Aston Villa. The Villains have scored more than a single goal in just one league game, while Brentford have kept clean sheets in three of their last four matches. Brentford and under 2.5 goals at 7.60 is catching our eye.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): Aston Villa win: 2.06, Draw: 3.55, Brentford win: 3.60
Wolves vs Leicester
Sunday 23rd October, 14:00
Wolves are the lowest scorers in the league, having notched just five goals so far, and have only managed two league wins. Leicester only have two victories to their name this season, although top scorer James Maddison (with five goals this season), is back after serving a suspension. Recent poor form for both teams suggests betting on 1-2 goals at 2.11 could be lucrative.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): Wolves win: 2.25, Draw: 3.40, Leicester win: 3.25
Southampton vs Arsenal
Sunday 23rd October, 14:00
League leaders Arsenal have only lost once in the league this season and are currently unbeaten in four, including victories over Tottenham and Liverpool. Southampton earned a much-needed win away to Bournemouth in midweek to drag themselves out of the relegation zone. Despite a 1-0 win against Arsenal at St Mary’s last season, the Saints are 5.60 to come out on top this time, while the Gunners are just 1.58 to take all three points.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): Southampton 5.60, Draw: 4.30, Arsenal: 1.58
Leeds vs Fulham
Sunday 23rd October, 14:00
Leeds are looking for a first home league win since beating Chelsea 3-0 in August. Fulham’s only away league win so far this season came against Nottingham Forest last month. The recent head-to-head form is with Leeds, who have won the past four matches between the two sides. The hosts are 2.06 to make that five in a row.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): Leeds win: 2.06, Draw 3.65, Fulham win: 3.55
Tottenham vs Newcastle
Sunday 23rd October, 16:30
Spurs will be looking for a reaction after their disappointing defeat to Man United. However, they have won all five home league games so far and have only lost in one of their last 10 meetings with Newcastle. The Magpies are in fine form and are unbeaten in six, having only lost one Premier League match so far this season. Despite that, Tottenham are favourites for this at Bet9ja, with odds of 2.08 for a home victory.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): Tottenham win: 2.08, Draw: 3.60, Newcastle win: 3.50
West Ham vs Bournemouth
Monday 24th October, 20:00
It’s been an inconsistent start to the season for West Ham, with Europa Conference League duties testing a brittle squad. But David Moyes’ team have won their past four matches at home in all competitions and beat Bournemouth 4-0 the last time the two met in January 2020. The Cherries will be down after their 1-0 defeat at home to Southampton, and only have one win in the last five matches. However, with 13 points already on the board, it’s been a decent enough start. West Ham are strong favourites at odds of 1.56 at Bet9ja.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): West Ham win: 1.56, Draw: 4.25, Bournemouth win: 6.00
