David de Gea recently left Manchester United after 12 years at the club.
After 545 matches, 190 clean sheets and five major trophies, including the English Premier League title in 2012/13, de Gea has cemented his spot as one of United’s greatest stoppers.
It was a tough last campaign for the Spanish keeper as he was heavily criticised after making several mistakes, but he still picked up the Golden Glove award come the end of the season.
De Gea left United following the expiry of his contract as Erik ten Hag is looking to bring in a new goalkeeper that will suit his possession based style of play.
Below, we take a look at de Gea’s highlights in a United shirt.
Winning the English Premier League, 2012/13
De Gea was monumental in Manchester United’s 2012/13 title winning campaign, where he earned himself a spot in the PFA Team of the Season.
He made 28 appearances in the league whilst making an impressive 11 clean sheets, in a season which was arguably his best in England, in just his second season at the club.
Breathtaking performance vs Arsenal, 2017
De Gea made a remarkable 14 saves across 90 minutes in 2017 against Arsenal, a game where the Gunners certainly will feel like they did enough to win the game despite losing 3-1.
The 14 saves in that match is the still the joint most made by a goalkeeper in the EPL, a record he shares with Tim Krul and Vito Mannone.
Golden Glove with 17 clean sheets, 2022/23
Although de Gea received criticism for some of his poor mistakes last term, he still managed to pick up the Golden Glove award for his 17 clean sheets.
Last term turned out to be his last as United number one, as ten Hag is on the hunt for a more consistent man in the sticks.
Clean sheets against Liverpool, 2016
In 2016, de Gea was the bogey goalkeeper for rivals Liverpool, where he managed to keep two clean sheets in the league, as United won 1-0 at Anfield the other ended goalless.
In more recent times the Reds have got the better of the Spanish shot stopper, but he will be remembered for his heroics that year by the United faithful.
