City Champions
Manchester City managed to beat Chelsea 1-0 at home on Sunday afternoon, after being crowned Premier League champions on Saturday evening.
After the recent drop in form from Arsenal, it was inevitable the Pep Guardiola would win his fifth league title as City boss, and they have a chance to complete the treble with a final in the FA Cup and Champions League to come.
With Arsenal losing away to Nottingham Forest, City were able to name a depleted side against the Blues. The likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland were left on the bench, meaning they will be fighting fit in the cup competitions, as City aim to cement their spot as one of the best ever English club sides.
Another loss for Leeds
Leeds United had a chance to climb out of the relation zone at the weekend but they failed after West Ham United managed to win the match 3-1, despite the visitors taking the lead in the first half.
The Whites now need to beat Tottenham Hotspur and hope that Leicester City lose to West Ham on the final day if they want to remain in the top flight next season.
Forest secure safety
Nottingham Forest were promoted to the Premier League last season for the first time since 1999, after winning the play-offs, and they secured their place for next term with a game to spare.
Arsenal travelled to the City Ground on Saturday and lost 1-0 thanks to a goal from Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi in the first half which had the Forest faithful in full voice, and the Gunners could not come back to salvage anything from the game.
Steve Cooper made more than 30 new additions to his squad in the summer and winter, so it would have been a total disaster financially if they were to get relegated back to the Championship. But three wins in their last five matches means they avoid an immediate return to the second tier.
