WHERE DO EVERTON PLAY?

Everton currently play their football at Goodison Park, which has been their home since leaving Anfield in 1892, allowing for the creation of rivals Liverpool, and has a capacity of 39, 414.

This season is set to be Everton’s last at their long-time home ground with plans in place to move to the newly-developed Bramley-Moore Dock ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, a ground that will have a capacity of 52,888.

WHEN WERE EVERTON FOUNDED?

Everton were initially founded as St. Domingo’s FC in 1878, created by members of the congregation of St Domingo Methodist New Connexion Chapel could play sports all year round, with a cricket team in the summer.

The club was eventually renamed ‘Everton’ in November 1879 after the local area as people outside the congregation wanted to start participating.

The legendary Dixie Dean is the club’s all-time top scorer, netting an incredible 383 goals in all competitions in 433 appearances between 1925 and 1937.

The striker was one of the greatest goalscorers of his generation and remains the record holder for most goals in an English football season with 60.

WHAT IS EVERTON’S BIGGEST-EVER VICTORY?

Everton’s biggest-ever victory came against Derby County in the FA Cup in January 1890, recording an unbelievably 11-2 victory, the only time the Toffees have ever got into double figures in a game.

Everton’s biggest rivals are undoubtedly Liverpool, with the two teams competing in the ‘Merseyside Derby’. HOW DID EVERTON BECOME KNOWN AS ‘THE BLUES’?

While Everton originally wore black kits, earning them the nickname ‘The Black Watch’ after the famous army regiment, they switched to blue kits in 1901. That switch earned the side the simple nickname ‘The Blues’, which they have been known as ever since.

Former Everton player Howard Kendall is the most successful manager in Everton’s history, taking charge of the side on three different occasions, between 1981-1987, 1990-1993 and 1997-98.

Kendall won two league titles, an FA Cup, three Community Shields and the 1985 European Cup Winners’ Cup with Everton, the last English manager to win a UEFA Competition with an English club.

WHAT IS EVERTON’S STYLE OF PLAY?

Everton have had a number of different styles of play throughout their history, at one point being nicknamed ‘The School of Science’ due to their attractive and attacking football in the 1920’s.
