Last night Manchester City comfortably beat Arsenal 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the English Premier League and we take a look at how that leaves the title race.
The Gunners have led the pack at the top of the table in the English Premier League for the majority of the season, but City now have it in their hands to overtake them as they have two games in hand, trailing by just two points.
Over for Arsenal?
Arsenal have now not won in the Premier League for four games, disappointingly dropping points against relegation strugglers West Ham and Southampton along this run.
The Gunners remain at the top of the table, but if Pep Guardiola’s side win their games in hand, they would move four points clear at the top.
With the way that Arsenal were playing, and being eight points clear at the top of the table at one stage, the faithful really did start to believe that this could be their year, but now it is looking like quite the opposite.
KDB influence
Kevin De Bruyne has really proven his worth for City in recent times, chipping in with 11 goal contributions in his last 10 appearances, including two goals and assists against the Gunners on Wednesday night.
Guardiola opted to use the Belgian star sporadically in the early stages of the season, but his decision has evidently paid dividends as he has really hit world class form at the business end of the season.
Who will stop City?
City are now unbeaten in 17 games in all competitions, and they really do not look like slowing down as they push on for a fifth Premier League title in six years.
Guardiola seems to have perfected his tactics and shape to ensure that his side are hard to break down and a force in front of goal, after they have found the back of the net at least three times in eight of their last nine games. With seven league games left and a seemingly favourable run-in, it’s hard to see who will stop City marching to the title.
