The English Premier League continues to capture the imagination of fans across the country – we are just three weeks in and have seen drama, great goals, and big talking points come out of each game.
Manchester City netted a late winner against a stubborn Sheffield United side, but the highlight of the weekend was Liverpool’s come-from-behind victory against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
Here are the top five goals of the week from the world’s leading domestic competition.
Kevin Schade vs Crystal Palace
Brentford youngster Kevin Shade scored a superb goal to put The Bees ahead against London Rivals Crystal Palace. The German attacker picked the ball up on the left wing before taking on Palace captain Joel Ward and cutting in towards goal.
Arriving into the box, Schade curled a beauty of a finish past Sam Johnstone into the top corner. Brentford will be hopeful that their attackers can keep stepping up like this in the absence of main man Ivan Toney
Rodri vs Sheffield United
Manchester City’s star midfielder Rodri has made a habit for scoring stunning goals at vital times for the champions, and this was no different.
With Sheffield United holding Manchester City to a draw, Rodri pounced on a loose ball inside the box to send a superb half-volley into the top corner and give City all three points to keep their 100% start to the season.
Darwin Núñez vs Newcastle United
10-man Liverpool produced a stunning comeback to beat Newcastle United on Sunday, with Darwin Núñez the star of the show. His first goal was a fine finish after some poor defending, but his second will truly live long in the memory.
Latching onto a superb through ball from Mo Salah in added time, Núñez was one-on-one with Nick Pope and lashed a great finish past the England man to seal the three points for The Reds.
Raheem Sterling vs Luton Town
Chelsea secured their first win of the season against Luton Town on Friday, with Raheem Sterling the star of the show.
The England winger picked the ball up on the right wing with no support but danced inside to beat three Luton defenders before slamming the ball into the bottom corner left-footed. His form this season will be crucial to Chelsea’s success.
Matty Cash vs Burnley
Playing in a more advanced role than usual, Matty Cash put Burnley to the sword with a well-taken double at Villa Park.
His second goal was the pick of the bunch, exchanging passes with new signing Moussa Diaby before hammering home a true striker’s finish from inside the box to complete a great week of results for VIlla.
