The English Premier League returned this weekend with plenty of excellent performances from individual players.

Several top talents across Europe have joined the top flight in England this summer, and there were a few standout performances that have already started to show their worth.

We take a look at the best EPL debuts from matchday one of the 2023/24 season.

There is Monday night football tonight as Manchester United face Wolverhampton Wanderers, with more than 200 markets to check out at Bet9ja.

Sandro Tonali, Newcastle

Sandro Tonali made his first start for Newcastle United this weekend since signing from AC Milan and he impressed during the 5-1 victory against Villa.

The Italian midfielder scored the opening goal of the game in the sixth minute and produced a top quality performance, playing in an advanced role just ahead of Bruno Guimaraes.

Axel Disasi, Chelsea

Axel Disasi made the switch from Monaco to Chelsea this summer for a fee in the region of £40m and was solid against Liverpool in the 1-1 draw.

Not only did Disasi add defensive stability at the back for the Blues, he also chipped in with an important goal proving that he could be a threat in the opposition box this season.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai was introduced as a Liverpool player this summer after he signed from RB Leipzig and impressed in the middle of the park this weekend against Chelsea.

The Hungarian midfielder lined up next to Alexis Mac Allister on Sunday in the heart of midfield and they complemented each well with Szoboszlai showing all the traits of a complete box-to-box midfielder.

Moussa Diaby, Aston Villa

Moussa Diaby performed well on his debut for Aston Villa at the weekend against a strong Newcastle United side, despite being part of the XI that ended up losing 5-1.

There were little positives to take from the game for Villa, apart from the performance of Diaby after he caused problems to the Newcastle defence and found the back of the net with his weaker foot in the 11th minute.
