Why Nicolas Jackson Has Been Crucial For Chelsea

Nicolas Jackson signed for English Premier League giants Chelsea in the summer from Villarreal and we take a deeper look at how his first season for his new club has gone so far.

Chelsea have had a somewhat disappointing season so far, as they sit in the bottom half of the table at 11th, despite spending a significant amount of money in the summer.

Comparison to Didier Drogba

Nicolas Jackson has now fired home nine goals in his debut Premier League campaign with 10 games to spare, while Didier Drogba netted a total of 10 times in his entire debut campaign.

Drogba will arguably go down as Chelsea’s best ever centre forward, after he found the back of the net 164 times in all competitions for the London club, so the Blues faithful will be hoping that their Senegalese forward can reach similar heights.

Transfer fee

Jackson signed for the Blues for a fee in the region of £32m in the summer, which in today’s market for a 22-year-old striker, who has plenty of potential to be one of the world’s best, is looking like a reasonable price.

Having already proven that he can score goals, Jackson has arguably already warranted his transfer fee, and with him still having plenty of time to progress into a more complete forward, he has plenty of time to put weigh his price tag.

Lack of quality at Chelsea

Despite spending a large amount of money in the summer, it is still evident that Chelsea lack quality in several areas of the pitch which has led to a severe lack of service to the front men due to not a lot of creativity in the side.

With the financial backing that Chelsea have, it is likely that we will see them try to bring better quality players in the door in the summer to improve the side, therefore providing Jackson with more support which would most definitely improve his game.
