Will Harry Kane Stay At Tottenham Hotspur This Summer?

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane has been the main man for Spurs over the last nine seasons but his time at the club could be up with silverware on his mind.

The English forward is yet to win a trophy in his career despite breaking several goal-scoring records, so it will be interesting to see whether he stays at Spurs ahead of next term. He has also been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

We assess Kane’s options.

Remain at Spurs?

Harry Kane is Tottenham Hotspur’s all time record goalscorer, surpassing Jimmy Greaves’ previous record of 266, in February.

The 29-year-old’s contract with Spurs will expire next summer, so if the English Premier League side were to sell him then they might be keen to offload this summer rather than let him leave on a free in a year’s time.

Kane might be thinking that Spurs could potentially have a chance of winning a trophy under new manager Ange Postecoglou, as he has got them playing positive football in their pre-season friendlies so far.

James Maddison has recently signed for Spurs, which might be a factor for Kane to consider as the England international will add a creative spark that they were certainly missing last year.

The fact he is 47 goals behind Alan Shearer’s all time EPL tally might persuade him to stay until at least the end of his contract, then stay in the division with a rival team. Also, Daniel Levy won’t be letting Kane go on the cheap, so him staying for at least one more season seems the most realistic outcome at this stage.

Bayern Munich move? Man United interest?

Bayern Munich are one of the clubs across Europe that have shown great interest in Kane this summer but they have had two bids rejected from Spurs.

Kane might be keen to leave Spurs this summer, as he is yet to win a trophy in his career so far, and he could certainly do this is if he pursued a move to Bayern Munich.

Bayern are always in with a chance of winning the UEFA Champions League, and with Spurs not having any European football to contend with next term, this could be a big persuasive factor into him leaving.

However, despite Kane having just one year remaining on his current contract with Spurs, Bayern would have to table an exceptional bid if they were to lure him to the club due to the importance of him to the English side.

The same can be said of Man United. Reportedly, Kane would favour  a move to the English giants rather than Bayern Munich, which could help him achieve becoming the record EPL goalscorer, as previously mentioned. United are also keen on Rasmus Hojlund and would ideally want to move quickly on securing a centre-forward. Like Munich, United could easily be outpriced of a move for Kane.
