Arsenal host Liverpool this weekend in a massive fixture at the top of the English Premier League – both teams are in good form and will want to hit their stride with Manchester City lurking behind them with games in hand.
Liverpool are eager to send off manager Jurgen Klopp in the best way possible and Arsenal want to right the wrongs of last season by finally winning the English Premier League after 20 years without the trophy.
We spoke to Bet9ja Ambassador Victor Ikpeba for his thoughts on the match this weekend.
This match should look very different to the FA Cup tie last month
Arsenal’s match against Liverpool in the FA Cup was a frustrating match to watch for Arsenal fans – they dominated the play for the majority of the match but just could not find the finish to any of their moves. As a team they were playing with no confidence in the final third, but now after scoring seven goals in their last two matches should be feeling more clinical in front of goal.
Liverpool were uncharacteristically sloppy in that match but had enough quality up front to steal the win at the end of the match – I think that this game will see them with a lot more quality in their build-up play – they won’t just be relying on moments of brilliance from their top players.
Both teams desperately need to win this
With Manchester City starting to hit top form after the turn of the year, Liverpool and Arsenal could both really do with a statement victory this weekend. It looks like Klopp has a couple of injury doubts, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mo Salah and Dawrwin Nunez all potentially out, but they will still believe that the likes of Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo will have enough quality to see them through.
Arsenal have been written off as title challengers in the last month but three points here would really put them back in the conversation. Their forward line is playing as a unit again and they look like the side who went into the festive period top of the league again after a rough run of form.
I think this one will be a score-draw, 1-1 is my prediction.
