Two European giants face off in the UEFA Champions League Semi-Finals today, with Spanish champions Real Madrid taking on Bayern Munich in Germany in what promises to be a thrilling encounter between two clubs with rich European pedigree.
The winner of this tie will be well-placed to win Europe’s most famous trophy this season – there was a lot made in the quarter-final stage of the tournament of how Bayern and Real’s side of the draw would be more likely to go all the way and achieve footballing immortality in comparison to PSG and Borussia Dortmund’s side.
We spoke to Bet9ja Ambassador Victor Ikpeba ahead of this crunch tie at the Allianz Arena for his thoughts on the game.

Real Madrid just know how to win in this competition!
This will be an amazing tie – I have no doubts about that. Both of these sides showed in their quarter final matchups against Arsenal and Manchester City that regardless of the odds or their form coming into the match, they have the European know-how to get the job done.
Real Madrid have achieved more European success than any other team and have players across their squad who have won this tournament multiple times before. On top of this, they have genuine game-breaking quality that can decide a match in an instant.
Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior are two of Europe’s brightest talents and players who can produce moments of magic at any turn, and Bayern Munich will have to be on their A-game for the whole 90 minutes of this leg.
Bayern Munich are a tough side to beat regardless of their domestic form
Bayern showed in the quarter-final second leg against Arsenal that there is no replacement for experience – Arsenal have been one of the best sides in Europe since the start of 2024 but the Germans broke them down perfectly and played to their strengths.
This sort of approach might not work against Real Madrid, who are experts in this competition in their own right, but having Harry Kane in their ranks will be a problem for Los Blancos.
This tie won’t be decided in one leg, but I can see Bayern coming out on top thanks to the quality of Harry Kane.
