After the success of the inaugural Chaos in the Ring event in October, the spotlight returns to Lagos on Sunday as Chaos in the Ring II promises a landmark night for African boxing.
With elite heavyweights, local Nigerian matchups, and global broadcast reach, the event represents another major step forward for the sport on the continent.
Headlining the card is Nigerian-born British star Lawrence Okolie, who will make his first professional appearance on African soil when he faces Ghanaian powerhouse Ebenezer Tetteh. The event takes place on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Detty December Festival Grounds in Lagos.
As Official Partners of Chaos in the Ring II, Bet9ja will broadcast the entire event live, giving fans across Nigeria front-row access to one of the biggest boxing nights the region has ever seen.

Okolie’s Lagos Homecoming
Lawrence Okolie enters Chaos in the Ring II as one of the most compelling figures in heavyweight boxing. Born in London to Nigerian parents, the 33-year-old has already achieved what few fighters manage, becoming a two-weight world champion and now standing as the WBC’s number one ranked heavyweight contender.
Okolie first captured global attention in 2021 when he stopped Krzysztof Glowacki to win the WBO cruiserweight title, before later adding the WBC bridgeweight belt as he transitioned towards boxing’s marquee division. Now fully established at heavyweight, his Lagos appearance is about more than rankings or records.
Fighting in Nigeria carries deep personal significance for Okolie, who has spoken openly about the pride he feels in his roots and the reception he has already experienced from fans in Lagos. It was a visit to Nigeria earlier this year that offered Okolie a glimpse of the reception awaiting him on Sunday.
“It was a great reaction. I was actually very shocked,” he said.
“My face is in various gyms, people know who I am as I’m walking around, and everyone was sort of on me.”
“You’re going to see artists performing. You’re going to see colours. You’re going to see what you expect from England, but just with the African twist.”
“There’s a real big fight-fan culture there and they love to see boxers go for it.”
Standing opposite him is Ebenezer Tetteh, a rugged and experienced Ghanaian heavyweight known for his knockout power and durability. With 20 stoppages on his record, Tetteh represents a serious test and has already proven he belongs at this level after pushing Dillian Whyte deep into a tough contest last year. For Okolie, it is the kind of challenge that demands focus, discipline, and authority.
A Stacked Supporting Cast
Chaos in the Ring II is far more than a one-fight spectacle. The co-main event sees French heavyweight Tony Yoka make his Nigerian debut as he looks to rebuild momentum and re-enter world title contention. A 2016 Olympic gold medallist, Yoka brings elite pedigree and global recognition to the card when he faces Germany’s Patrick “Big Patrick” Korte in a ten-round contest.
Yoka’s presence further elevates the night’s heavyweight theme, with promoters Amir Khan and Dr Ezekiel Adamu making it clear that this event is designed to announce Africa as a serious destination for top-level boxing.

Nigerian Pride on the Undercard
Local talent plays a central role in the Chaos in the Ring II narrative, with multiple all-Nigerian matchups ensuring strong crowd connection throughout the night. Undefeated Basit Adebayo faces the experienced Sikiru Shogbesan in a lightweight clash that blends rising ambition with proven pedigree, while fan favourite Isaac Chukwudi goes head-to-head with unbeaten puncher Raheem Animashaun in a bout fuelled by national pride.
Elsewhere on the card, unbeaten prospect Shiloh Defreitas collides with Kabiru Salawu in a high-stakes matchup, while the event also features a women’s bout between Odunayo Ayanwale and the unbeaten Elizabeth Oshoba.
