Matchday 14 of the English Premier League takes place this weekend with some hugely important fixtures taking place all across the table, from early relegation battles to clashes between top sides playing for the highest prizes.
Manchester City are once again involved in the standout match of the weekend as they are set to take on Tottenham Hotspur, making this their third game in a row against one of the traditional top-six sides after games against Liverpool and Chelsea in previous weeks.
With so many stories coming from this weekend, we’ve picked out our top tips and a booking code for the upcoming matchday:
Burnley and Sheffield United to draw, 3.65
Burnley vs Sheffield United
Burnley and Sheffield United both find themselves solidly in the bottom three going into this one, with many predicting that these two sides will fall to relegation come the end of the season. Burnley have picked up just four points so far, while Sheffield United are on five largely thanks to taking four points from their last three games. Sheffield United have scored one more than Burnley and conceded two more so far this season, leaving very little to split these two sides.
With so many similarities in quality between these two sides, we expect that this one will end in a draw.
Newcastle United to win, 1.94
Newcastle United vs Manchester United
Newcastle United rectified their 2-0 loss against Bournemouth with an impressive 4-1 victory over Chelsea last weekend, before rather unfortunately drawing 1-1 to PSG after a controversial penalty in the 98th minute saw Kylian Mbappe equalise.
As for Manchester United, it looked as though they were finally starting to put together a solid run of results with them winning five of their last six league games. However, they fell to a disappointing 3-3 draw with Galatasaray during the midweek despite leading 2-0 and 3-1 throughout the game.
The disappointment of this draw for Man United is sure to have an impact on their players and with Newcastle United so strong when playing with the backing of their home crowd at St James’ Park, we expect that Newcastle will go on to win this one.
Brighton & Hove Albion to win, 4.40
Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion
Chelsea had all the confidence going into their game last weekend with Newcastle United after they had beaten Tottenham 4-1 and drew 4-4 to Manchester City, but they got dismantled by Newcastle as they lost 4-1. Chelsea now face another tough game against Brighton who haven’t lost in seven games across all competitions, winning four of these games.
Brighton will instead be the side going into this one with confidence as they booked their place in the knockout rounds of the Europa League on Thursday evening. The Seagulls also haven’t lost to Chelsea in the League since 2020.
With this, we expect that Brighton will continue their impressive run against Chelsea and we back them to take all three points from this one.
Manchester City to win, 1.28
Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur have fallen apart in recent weeks, with them losing all three of their last games following a 10 game unbeaten start to the season. With key players such as James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero all still out with injury or suspension, this recent poor run is likely to continue against Manchester City.
City came from two behind to win 3-2 against Leipzig in the Champions League this week making this eight games since they lost their last game, a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. A combination of being the highest scoring team in the league, mostly due to the excellence of Erling Haaland who already has 14 league goals, and Tottenham without either of their first choice centre backs, this could turn into a high scoring affair for City and we firmly expect them to win.
