As the November international break kicks off, the UEFA Nations League returns, bringing crucial match-ups in round five and six of the group stage. With teams battling for play-offs, promotion and to avoid relegation, fans can expect high-stakes action over the coming days.
In this article, we break down some of the most anticipated fixtures for Thursday and Friday and pick out our top tips and best booking code (odds at time of writing):
Greece vs England
England may have lost in the last meeting between these two sides in the October international break, falling to a 2-1 defeat in a hugely underwhelming performance, but the Three Lions will be desperate for revenge in this one.
With them sitting second in the group, behind Greece, they will also be aiming to move into top spot with a win, while Lee Carsley will be eager to secure back-to-back wins in his final matches in charge before Thomas Tuchel takes over.
While we expect a tight game between these two sides, we do ultimately believe a depleted but still strong England side will win this one.
England to win, 2.15
Belgium vs Italy
Belgium and Italy drew in their previous encounter in October, but Belgium arguably should have won after dominating the play following Lorenzo Pellegrini’s red card, including coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2.
However, the Italians were dominant up until the sending off and have been hugely impressive in every game since their disappointing European Championship campaign, including defeating France 3-1 in the opening game of the Nations League.
Belgium, on the other hand, have just one win and one draw from their four Nations League outings, and we expect their poor form will continue with a defeat against the in-form Italy side.
Italy to win, 2.73
Denmark vs Spain
Spain have been simply sensational in recent years, remaining unbeaten in their last 14 matches across all competitions, including winning all seven matches at Euro 2024 as they went on to lift the trophy, beating England 2-1 in the final.
Denmark, in comparison, have been extremely inconsistent in recent times, drawing all three Euro group games before losing to Germany in the first knockout round, while they have managed two wins, a draw and a loss in their first four Nations League games.
With Spain coming into this one in superb form, as well as having the better squad, we believe the visitors will win this one with over 1.5 goals, having scored eight in their four group games thus far.
Spain to win & over 1.5 goals, 2.35
Portugal vs Poland
Cristiano Ronaldo may have endured a difficult UEFA Euro campaign, failing to hit the net during normal time as Portugal scraped their way through to the quarterfinal before being defeated by France on penalties, but the striker has looked back to his best in the Nations League.
The legendary forward has netted three times in four Nations League outings, three of which he started, including a goal against Poland in Portugal’s 3-1 win in the reverse fixture in October. With Ronaldo also netting 10 times in 15 appearances for Al Nassr so far this season, the striker comes in to this one in fantastic form, and expect that to continue tonight.
Cristiano Ronaldo to score anytime, 1.70
