Club friendlies continue to take place this weekend as teams step up preparations for the upcoming campaign, while the return of competitive action in several leagues adds extra intrigue. Take a look at the best booking codes to use around Europe this weekend (odds at time of writing):
Bayern Munich vs Lyon
In their first game since being eliminated from the Club World Cup by Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals, Bayern Munich will take on Lyon in their first of two friendlies ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
While Bayern have had nearly a month break from their last match, Lyon have played four pre-season friendlies in that time, and with three wins and one draw, the French side will be confident coming into their last pre-season match.
However, Bayern Munich are undoubtedly the stronger side, and after a long period of rest and recovery from a gruelling 2024/25 campaign, we believe the German giants will get over the line with a win.

Are you ready to go 1Up?! ?
Cardiff City vs Peterborough
Cardiff City were disappointingly relegated from the Championship last season, but they have been able to keep hold of a number of key players ahead of a campaign where they will be aiming for an immediate promotion.
One of those is last season’s top scorer Callum Robinson, who scored 12 and assisted one in 34 Championship appearances last season, and the striker could play a key role in their potential promotion push this term.
The striker clearly has the quality to score goals at an even higher level, having scored in the Championship and Premier League throughout his career, and we believe he will show his quality with a goal in this one.

Huddersfield Town vs Leyton Orient
Huddersfield Town, who were relegated from the Championship in 2023/24, had a disappointing first campaign in League One last term as they placed 10th and missed out on the playoffs by a significant 14 points.
Huddersfield have made some impressive signings ahead of this campaign, including Alfie May – who registered 24 goal contributions in Birmingham City’s League One promotion campaign last season – leaving them in strong standing ahead of a campaign where they will be aiming for promotion.
Their opening clash will not be easy, however, as they face a Leyton Orient side eyeing promotion after narrowly missing out with a 1-0 defeat in the promotion playoff final last season.
Given both teams are among the strongest in the league and will be eager to secure promotion this term, both will be wanting to get off to strong starts to the season, meaning we expect this to be an extremely hard-fought match that we believe will end all square.

Manchester United vs Everton
Manchester United have made an impressive start to their pre-season preparations, having initially drawn 0-0 with Leeds United before beating both West Ham United (2-1) and Bournemouth (4-1) in their opening two friendlies in the Premier League Summer Series.
Now set for a clash with Everton, who drew against Accrington Stanley and lost to Blackburn Rovers before losing both Premier League Summer Series matches against Bournemouth (3-0) and West Ham (2-1), the Red Devils are strong favourites to secure the win.
While we do expect an improved performance from the Toffees as they continue their preparations, Man Utd have looked superb throughout their last two fixtures, and we expect Ruben Amorim’s side to continue their winning run.
