After a relentless few weeks of club football, we have arrived at the last international break of the year. Fear not, there is still excellent value to be found in international football. We have gone through this week’s games to provide the best value and goalscorer picks.

Here are 5 goalscorer picks to bet on:

Kylian Mbappe vs Ukraine

France will book their place at next summer’s extravaganza with a victory over Ukraine on Thursday, and they are heavy favorites to do so. Didier Deschamps’ team drew against Iceland last time out, but they are unlikely to make that mistake again against a team they have lost to just once since 2007.

Our pick to score anytime is captain Kylian Mbappe. The Real Madrid man has scored 18 goals in his last 16 games, including three in his last three appearances for Les Bleus.

Victor Osimhen vs Gabon

This is a winner-takes-all game as Nigeria and Gabon vie for a place in the World Cup qualification play-off final. Nigeria are slight favorites, understandably so, as their attacking talent is second to none on the African continent.

They are also under more pressure after failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. For them to have a realistic chance, Victor Osimhen must be firing on all cylinders, and we expect him to be as dangerous as ever. His hat-trick against Benin helped the Super Eagles get here, and he is our pick to score.

Mateo Retegui vs Moldova

Italy have two crucial games to navigate to secure automatic qualification for next year’s showpiece event: Moldova and Group I leaders Norway. Anything other than a win over bottom side Moldova on Thursday will be a disaster of epic proportions.

The Azzurri are heavy favorites and have won five of their six games in the group but fell to a 3-0 defeat against Norway in their opener. They now need to make up the three-point gap. Our pick to score anytime is Mateo Retegui, who has scored five goals in his last four games for Italy.

Bryan Mbeumo vs DR Congo

Cameroon and DR Congo face off on Thursday to decide who will meet the winner of Nigeria and Gabon for a chance to be the final African team to qualify for next summer’s World Cup.

Cameroon have lost just one of their 10 World Cup qualifiers and should be confident they can get past DR Congo, having conceded just three goals in their last eight games. They also scored 17 goals throughout qualifying and will rely on Manchester United’s in-form star Bryan Mbeumo, who has five goals in his last six games, including two in his last three for Cameroon.

Rasmus Hojlund vs Belarus

Denmark destroyed rock-bottom Belarus 6-0 in the reverse fixture, and another big win is on the cards as they look to put themselves in good standing ahead of their crunch clash with Scotland. Rasmus Hojlund scored twice in that win and seems to reserve his best performances for his country.

The Napoli man has four goals in his last four games for Denmark, and this is a game that promises goals. We fully expect Denmark to run up the score, and Hojlund should be at the forefront here.
