Alongside the return of the UEFA Champions League for this season’s semi-finals to take place, this week also hosts Europe’s second-tier competition’s semi-finals on Thursday night.
Despite not being as prestigious as the Champions League the four teams remaining in the UEFA Europa League are some of the biggest teams across the continent, leaving these two semi-finals as extremely intriguing ties.
With this, plenty of action should follow and we’ve picked out our top tips and booking codes for Thursday’s semi-finals:
Roma vs Bayer Leverkusen
Boniface and Bayer Leverkusen have been enjoying brilliant seasons this year, with Leverkusen already confirming their status as Bundesliga champions and on the road to winning the Europa League and DFB Pokal, all while remaining unbeaten so far.
As for the Nigerian striker, he has scored a career-high 18 goals this season, beating last season’s best of 17 for Union St Gilloise, and his favourite competition has certainly been this one. He has scored five times in his seven appearances in the Europa League, including a 90th-minute goal to make it 2-0 against West Ham in the first leg of the previous round.
With this, we believe that Boniface will continue his fantastic form not only in this competition but in the season as a whole and get another one in this game.
Victor Boniface to score anytime, 2.50
Bayer Leverkusen are yet to be beaten in the 46 games they have played across all the competitions they have been involved in, leaving them well on course to win three trophies and remain unbeaten.
Roma will be a tough task for the German champions, especially having to travel to Italy for the first leg, but we believe that the momentum that Leverkusen are carrying from a so far phenomenal season will push them over the line and help them secure victory.
Bayer Leverkusen to win & over 2.5 goals, 3.35
Marseille vs Atalanta
Aubameyang has broken the record for the most goals ever scored in the Europa League this season, surpassing Radamel Falcao who previously held the record.
While the striker has had a brilliant season across all the competitions he has played in, scoring 27 goals and assisting a further 11 in 46 games, his Europa League performances have certainly been the highlight of his season. Aubameyang has scored 10 in 11 appearances in this competition so far, three more than anyone else has managed as he looks certain to win the Golden Boot.
This fantastic run in the Europa League, as well as his brilliant form of scoring four in his last six matches across all competitions, we believe that Aubameyang will get on the scoresheet in this one.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score anytime, 2.30
Marseille hold the home advantage going into this first leg against Atalanta and the French giants have only lost twice at the Stade Velodrome all season, coming at the beginning of the season against Panathinaikos on penalties and a 2-0 defeat to PSG at the end of March.
Atalanta will be a tough task still, having comfortably beaten Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield in the previous round, but we believe that Marseille will be able to make the most of their home advantage and the crowd will push them to victory.
All of Marseille’s last three games have involved over 2.5 goals, while three of Atalanta’s last five have also hosted plenty of goals, and we believe this one will involve over 2.5 goals come the end of the game.
Marseille to win & over 2.5 goals, 3.90
