Bet9ja End of Season Awards: 2024/25

Now the dust has settled on the 2024/25 season, it’s time to hand out some well-earned flowers. From rising stars and elite signings to unforgettable moments and game-changing gaffers, here are Bet9ja’s End of Season Awards.

Player of the Season Nominees:

  • Ousmane Dembele finally lived up to the hype in Paris. The raw talent that once frustrated fans is now refined and ruthless – 34 goals, a treble… and a Ballon d’Or pending?
  • Raphinha turned last summer’s transfer list worries into a Ballon d’Or campaign. He carried Barcelona’s attack with double-digit goals and assists, equalling Ronaldo’s record 21 UCL goal contributions.
  • Lamine Yamal – a generational 17-year-old. He tore defences apart with 18 goals and 25 assists in all comps.
  • Mohamed Salah delivered a Premier League masterclass, dragging Liverpool to the title with one of the most complete attacking seasons in recent memory.

Winner: Ousmane Dembele
Who could’ve seen this coming? Once labelled a flop, Dembele rose from the ashes to become Europe’s most devastating attacker. His 34 goals were just part of it; he was unplayable at times, decisive in huge UCL games, and the face of PSG’s new era. The Ballon d’Or is in sight.

Young Player of the Season Nominees:

  • Lamine Yamal redefined what’s possible at 17. Goals, assists, and maturity beyond his years – he looked like the best player on the pitch, every week.
  • Desire Doue dropped a Champions League Final performance for the ages – two goals and an assist to seal PSG’s first European crown.
  • Bradley Barcola quietly stacked 36 goal involvements this season and delivered an assist in the UCL Final.
  • Michael Olise lit up Bayern with his Robben-like movement and technique. 17 goals, 18 assists, and a constant threat on the right.

Winner: Lamine Yamal
No contest. Yamal wasn’t just the best young player in Europe, he was one of the best, full stop. He’s already drawing triple-marking tactics and still producing magic. We may never see another 17-year-old like him again.

 Signing of the Season Nominees:

  • Scott McTominay went from Old Trafford cast-off to Napoli hero. 18 goal involvements, Serie A MVP, and a title-clinching scissor kick on the final day.
  • Victor Osimhen didn’t sulk after his Napoli exit. He smashed 36 goals for Galatasaray and made the Turkish Super Lig his playground.
  • Joao Neves was a revelation in PSG’s midfield – relentless, graceful, and crucial in Europe’s biggest games.
  • Kylian Mbappe shrugged off Madrid’s collective struggles to bag 40 goals, including hat-tricks against Barca and City.

Winner: Kylian Mbappe
Say what you want about Madrid’s season – Mbappe was everything he promised to be. 31 league goals, a Golden Shoe, and some of the most electric performances of the year. Once the team around him settles, the trophies will follow.

Manager of the Season Nominees:

  • Luis Enrique took a post-Mbappe PSG and turned them into a team – fast, fluid, fearless, and finally Champions League winners.
  • Hansi Flick brought swagger back to Barcelona. His supercharged, vertical football humbled Madrid and made Barca watchable again.
  • Arne Slot stepped into Klopp’s shoes and didn’t flinch. He delivered Liverpool the title, unlocked his midfield, and got the best out of Salah again.
  • Antonio Conte dragged Napoli from 10th to 1st with intensity, clever recruitment, and a whole lot of grit.

Winner: Luis Enrique
He made PSG a proper team. No longer just star names, this was a system, and it clicked. Domestic dominance and the second treble of his career – the Spaniard finally cracked the Paris puzzle.

Goal of the Season Nominees:

  • Lamine Yamal vs Inter – a filthy solo run and curling finish under the lights  during Barcelona’s epic 3-3 semi-final first-leg draw against Inter.
  • Declan Rice vs Real Madrid – Could have been in here twice. His first v Real Madrid was the first time he had scored from free-kick in his career, his second topped it
  • Scott McTominay vs Cagliari – a sensational scissor-kick to seal the Scudetto.
  • Omar Marmoush vs Bournemouth – a 30-yard rocket that nearly broke the net.

Winner: Scott McTominay vs Cagliari
A title-winning scissor kick in the final game of the season? That’s how you write yourself into club folklore.

The European season may be over, but the FIFA Club World Cup is right around the corner! Get involved here.
