There are currently plenty of issues on and off the pitch at Manchester United, so we take a closer look at how they could potentially change their fortunes.
United have already lost five out of their opening 10 Premier League fixtures, and with the ongoing off-field conflict, things are not looking good at the club that used to have such great success.
After a successful first season, Erik ten Hag seems to have the world against him at the moment and is now under massive pressure, but what can he change?
Captaincy change
Bruno Fernandes is currently the club captain at United, but there has been a call from pundits and the clubs faithful for this to be changed due to his lack of performances and actions on the pitch.
It is clear that the Manchester club lack leadership and Fernandes certainly does not lead by example throughout the game as he often throws his toys out of the pram if things do not go his way. With that in mind, they could certainly benefit from having a captain who is someone for the rest of the team to look up to.
Trust the manager
Ten Hag has come under scrutiny in recent weeks with the performances of the side, but he has been in the job for under 18 months so is still adapting to life in England and at a club where there is a lot of issues behind the scenes.
If you look at Arsenal, Mikel Arteta was given time to clear out the squad and get his own players in and the decision to keep him during a tough spell has paid dividends as the Gunners are now in a far better position than they were before the Spaniard’s reign.
Form based team selection
It is evident that some of the so called ‘stars’ at United, such as Marcus Rashford, are performing well below par but are still finding themselves in the starting XI week in week out.
There is no denying that Rashford is one of the better players at the club, but there is plenty of youth talent within the ranks that could be given the nod, which could consequently give the English winger the wake-up call that he needs and return back to his form from last term.
