Nigeria are set to face Libya on matchday three in Group D of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the AFCON qualifiers.
The Super Eagles currently top the group with four points, from a win and a draw, while Libya are bottom of the standings with just a point after losing and drawing in their opening two group fixtures.

Akwa Ibom Stadium
Nigeria’s recent form has been highly inconsistent, as they currently sit second from the bottom in Group C of their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign without a win in four matches, while, in contrast, they were able to progress into the final of the 2023 AFCON before being narrowly defeated 2-1 by hosts Ivory Coast.
Fortunately for the Super Eagles and interim boss Augustine Eguavoen, it appears as though Nigeria are in good form in their 2025 AFCON qualifiers, winning 3-0 against Benin before drawing 0-0 with Rwanda, leaving them top of their group.
They will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the group and continue their unbeaten start as they take on bottom-of-the-standings Libya tomorrow evening, a side Nigeria have defeated in each of their last three meetings.
Libya, on the other hand, were in brilliant form heading into the 2025 AFCON qualifying matches, losing just one of their last 11 fixtures before drawing with Rwanda on the opening day and losing 2-1 to Benin in their second outing.
Those results leave Libya bottom of the group with just a point, but with four matches left to play, there is still plenty of hope for Libya to be able to qualify for the upcoming tournament, something they have failed to achieve since 2012.
Bet9ja Tips
Nigeria’s recent form may be highly inconsistent but, even without the services of star striker Victor Osimhen, they are undoubtedly still the strong favourites to pick up a comfortable three points against Libya.
The Super Eagles have defeated Libya in each of their last three meetings, scoring eight and conceding just two in that time, leading us to believe the hosts will secure another significant victory here.
It should be somewhat comfortable, with a Nigeria win by two goals priced up at 3.30 with Bet9ja. Ademola Lookman has been in fine form for club and country and you can get odds of 2.30 for him to score on Friday, to add to his two goals he scored for the Super Eagles last month.
Predicted Nigeria XI: Nwabali, Ekong, Ajayi, Bassey, Aina, Ndidi, Onyedika, Onyemaechi, Lookman, Boniface, Chukwueze
Bet9ja Odds (at time of writing): Nigeria win: 1.30, Draw: 4.75, Libya win: 13.00
