The English Premier League 2023/24 season begins on Friday 11 August, with some mouth-watering fixtures announced to kick off what will surely be another year of drama in England’s top flight.
We’ve taken a look at the big seven teams’ first five games to see how they’re likely to fare over the first month of the season.

Newcastle United
Newcastle host Aston Villa, another team who qualified for Europe against the odds, on the opening day of the season, before travelling to champions Manchester City a week later. They play Liverpool at St. James’ Park to close out August before a trip to Brighton on the south coast and a home fixture against Brentford in September.

Manchester United
Manchester United open their Premier League season hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers on 1 August, before a trip away to Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur. Saturday 26 August they host Nottingham Forest, before starting off September with fixtures against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium and a match against Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton and Hove Albion.

Liverpool:
Liverpool open their English Premier League season with a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side in the biggest fixture of the opening weekend before hosting Bournemouth a week later. A tough trip to Newcastle United bookends their August, before they host Aston Villa at Anfield to start September and a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers after the international break.

Tottenham Hotspur
Ange Postecoglou’s reign as Spurs boss starts with a tricky trip to Brentford on the opening weekend, before Manchester United make the trip south to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium a week later. Spurs travel to Bournemouth a week later before heading up to Burnley on 2 September, with a home fixture to newly-promoted Sheffield United rounding off their opening five matches.

Arsenal
Arsenal open their season hosting Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium, before a short trip to South London to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. In their third game they play host to Fulham on 26 August, before a huge game against Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United at home to start September. A week later they face off against Everton at Goodison Park – a ground where they lost 1-0 last season.

Chelsea
Chelsea’s opening day sees a visit from Liverpool, before they travel across London to play West Ham United a week later. Newly-promoted Luton Town visit Stamford Bridge on 26 August, with The Blues playing host to Nottingham Forest a week later to start off September. After the international break, Chelsea make the trip down to the south coast to play Gary O’Neil’s Bournemouth.

Manchester City
The reigning champions head to EFL Championship winners Burnley, managed by former City captain Vincent Kompany, on the first day of the season. A week later they host last season’s surprise package Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium, before ending August with a trip to Bramall Lane to face newly promoted Sheffield United. Either side of September’s international break they host Marco Silva’s Fulham before making the trip down to London to play West Ham United at the Olympic Stadium.
