The transfer window closes at midnight, ending a busy month for clubs around Europe. English Premier League clubs have spent £300 million so far, which is set to rise during the final few hours of a hectic day. Manchester City have spend the most with £130 million, which will rise with the addition of at least one more by the end of the day.
Here is a round-up of today’s big deals so far and what to expect from the rest of the day:
Completed deals
Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa – loan
A deal that went through late last night, Manchester United forward Rashford joins Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy in the summer for £40 million. Villa were in search for a forward after losing Jhon Duran to Al Nassr for £64 million. After 138 goals in 426 matches, Rashford fell out-of-favour at United this season, being frozen out of the team under Ruben Amorim, and offers plenty of experience to a team in the UEFA Champions League last 16 and fighting for a top four spot.
Stefanos Tzimas to Brighton – £20.8 million
Brighton completed the signing of 19-year-old forward Stefanos Tzimas for £20.8 million. He will join from Nurenberg in the summer and has netted 10 times in 17 matches for the German second-tier club. He is certainly one for the future.
Evan Ferguson to West Ham – loan
Brighton forward Evan Ferguson has joined West Ham on loan for the rest of the season. The Irish international links up again with Graham Potter in hope he can help restore a promising career which has stalled, making just 15 appearances this season. Injuries have meant West Ham’s biggest priority this winter was signing a striker and with 13 Premier League goals in 60 appearances at 20-years-old, he could be the answer.
Agreed deals
Mathys Tel is set to join Tottenham after the club agreed a loan deal with Bayern Munich. The 19-year-old forward has 16 goals in 83 matches for Bayern
Kelechi Iheanacho will join EFL Championship club Middlesbrough on loan after failing to score a goal in La Liga for Sevilla. The Nigerian star will try to help Boro secure a play-off spot, currently sitting 7th in the league.
Other deals to look out for
Joao Felix is set to join AC Milan from Chelsea on loan, Marco Asensio is on his way to Aston Villa on loan from PSG, Ben Chilwell could join Crystal Palace on loan from Chelsea, and Man City are in talks to sign Nicolás González from Porto for more than £50 million as they desperately seek a Rodri replacement.
