The UEFA Champions League is back for the second leg of the quarter-finals, and while some ties look all but over, others are finely poised for a dramatic conclusion.
Eight of Europe’s elite are hoping to book their place in the final four. But what exactly does each team need to qualify?
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of this week’s games.
Aston Villa vs PSG (Agg 1-3)
Aston Villa started brightly in Paris, taking a shock lead through Morgan Rogers, but ended the night 3-1 down after a stunning PSG comeback. Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Nuno Mendes all struck in a display of pace, precision and pedigree from Luis Enrique’s side.
Unai Emery’s team will need another of those famous Villa Park nights to turn this around – and history gives them hope. They’ve kept four clean sheets in five home games this UCL campaign and won by two or more goals on three occasions. But with PSG unbeaten in 16 straight away games and specialists in counter-attacking football, this is a massive ask.
What Villa need: A two-goal win to force extra time, or a three-goal win to qualify outright.

Borussia Dortmund vs Barcelona (Agg 0-4)
Dortmund were blown away in the first leg, with Robert Lewandowski netting twice against his former club alongside goals from Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. It was a humbling 90 minutes in Barcelona that left Niko Kovac’s men needing a miracle.

Statistically, no side has ever overcome a four-goal first-leg deficit in Champions League knockout history, except for Barcelona themselves in 2017. Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park has witnessed big nights before, but recent form doesn’t inspire much confidence, especially against a Barça side unbeaten in 24 matches in 2025.
What Dortmund need: A five-goal win to qualify outright, or 4-0 to force extra time.

Real Madrid vs Arsenal (Agg 0-3)
Real Madrid are no strangers to drama at the Bernabéu, but even they have never overturned a three-goal first-leg deficit in the Champions League era. Jude Bellingham admitted “we’re lucky to get away with three” after Declan Rice’s historic double and Mikel Merino’s sharp finish downed the holders in North London.

Still, if any club knows how to script a European miracle, it’s Madrid. But Arsenal have not lost a competitive game to Los Blancos in their history, and with Saka back in the side and Rice on set pieces, Mikel Arteta will be confident his side can finish the job.
What Madrid need: A 3-0 win to take it to extra time, or any bigger margin to go through.

Inter Milan vs Bayern Munich (Agg 2-1)
The closest of the four ties. Inter silenced the Allianz Arena with goals from Lautaro Martínez and Davide Frattesi either side of a Thomas Müller equaliser, and will now look to protect a narrow lead at San Siro.
Inter have lost just once at home in Europe since 2022 and have conceded only three UCL goals this season. But Bayern know what it takes to win big knockout ties on the road – and they’ve never lost a Champions League game at the San Siro. With Harry Kane, Leroy Sané and Olise in attack, this one could go right to the wire.
What Bayern need: A one-goal win to force extra time, two goals or more to go through.
