5 Players Liverpool Will Sign This Summer To Boost EPL Chances

Liverpool faced a challenging 2025/26 English Premier League season, failing to hit the heights of their 2024/25 title-winning campaign as they fell to a fifth-placed finish, narrowly scraping a spot in the Champions League places.

Arne Slot was subsequently dismissed from his role after the disappointing campaign, with Andoni Iraola announced as the new boss at Anfield.

The club are now looking to strengthen their squad under the new manager, although less money is expected to spent than during last summer’s transfer window, when Liverpool remarkably broke the British transfer record on two occasions by signing Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

Regardless, incomings are still expected at Anfield, and here, Bet9ja look at five of linked players that Liverpool will sign in the summer transfer window:

Victor Munoz (CA Osasuna)

Munoz appeared set to sign for Newcastle United during the summer transfer window, but Liverpool have reportedly hijacked the deal for the Spanish winger after triggering the £34.5m release clause in his Osasuna contract.

According to Sky Sports, Munoz has already completed a medical and agreed a six-year deal at Anfield, and this is expected to mark the first signing of Iraola’s tenure as Liverpool manager.

Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig)

Although one winger appears to be coming through the door, Liverpool are reportedly looking to add two wide players to their squad following the departure of Mohamed Salah this year and the lack of a replacement after Luis Diaz’s departure last summer.

Following the deal for Munoz, RB Leipzig’s super talented Diomande appears to be the next name on the shortlist, with any deal for the Ivory Coast forward anticipated to cost more than £86m.

Diomande, similarly to Munoz, can play on either flank and demonstrated his ability during an impressive 2025/26 campaign, scoring 13 goals and registering nine assists in 36 games, while he also produced an impressive five key passes and created one big chance in a brilliant first outing against Ecuador in the World Cup.

Khephren Thuram (Juventus)

One of Liverpool’s biggest weaknesses throughout the 2025/26 season was the consistently disappointing performances from some of their midfielders, with Alex Mac Allister particularly underwhelming.

As a result, Liverpool have been linked with numerous midfielders already this summer, and according to a recent report from Corriere dello Sport the Reds are interested in making a move for Juventus’ Khephren Thuram in the coming weeks.

Juventus reportedly need to sell in order to balance their books, meaning Thuram could leave for an expected £35-£40m fee, which would certainly be a worthwhile move for a player with such physical and technical capabilities.

Darwin Nunez (Al-Hilal)

Darwin Nunez only left Liverpool last summer for Al-Hilal in a move worth around £46m, but reports have suggested the striker could be set for a sensational return to Anfield in this year’s transfer window.

Nunez was unregistered from Al-Hilal’s Saudi Pro League squad following the winter signing of Karim Benzema, and the Uruguayan striker is expected to be allowed to leave Saudi Arabia this summer.

Reports have suggested that Nunez would be extremely keen on a move back to Liverpool, having previously admitting he missed the club and city, and with the long-term injury to Hugo Ekitike, a back-up striker may be needed at Anfield.

Ilya Zabarnyi (Paris Saint-Germain)

Liverpool have already lost Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer to Real Madrid this summer, and while the Reds have already signed youngster Jeremy Jacquet, there have been reports that the club are interested in adding another experienced defender to their squad.

One name that has emerged is Paris Saint-Germain’s Ilya Zabarnyi, who played under Iraola at Bournemouth before making the move to the back-to-back Champions League winners last summer.

Zabarnyi largely failed to impress in his first season in France and started just two games in the Champions League, and according to a report from DaveOCKOP Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign the defender.

A deal would make sense given the Ukrainian’s previous Premier League experience and relationship with Iraola, with any deal expected to cost upwards of £57m.
