The World Cup is here, and the games are coming thick and fast, with Mexico winning against South Africa in the opening game.

The selections for the weekend are below:

USA vs Paraguay

One of three hosts for the tournament, the USA head into the World Cup off the back of a difficult string of friendlies.

Paraguay faced the USA in a friendly back in November, suffering a 2-1 defeat at Subaru Park. Still, Gustavo Alfaro’s side will fancy their chances of avenging that result when the chips are down.

The South American side lost just once, to Brazil, during their qualification campaign, and will be well-prepared for the conditions on Saturday.

PREDICTION: GG or Over 2.5 Goals at 1.76 Odds

Qatar vs Switzerland

After an underwhelming performance on home soil in the World Cup’s last time out. They have an experienced coach in Julen Lopetegui, but stumbled through Asian qualifying, conceding an alarming 28 goals in the process.

Switzerland head into the 2026 World Cup without a host of former mainstays in the national team, but with plenty of optimism. The Swiss went unbeaten through their qualifying campaign and have a wealth of young talent ready to contribute.

PREDICTION: Switzerland to win & Over 1.5 Goals at 1.38

Brazil vs Morocco

Five-time winners Brazil face Morocco in a competitive match for the first time since a 3-0 victory at the 1998 World Cup in France.

Morocco have been on the rise in recent years, reaching the 2022 World Cup semi-finals before winning the Africa Cup of Nations in January after champions Senegal were stripped of their title.

The Atlas Lions beat Brazil 2-1 in their last clash in an October 2023 friendly.

PREDICTION: Brazil to win either halves at 1.36 Odds

Haiti vs Scotland

Haiti make their return to the World Cup scene following a 52-year absence and should be buoyed on by two promising warm-up matches, a 4-0 victory over New Zealand and a late defeat against Peru.

Scotland make their long-awaited return to football’s greatest show after missing out on the last six World Cups.

Steve Clarke’s side are expected to compete with Morocco for second spot and should see this as the perfect chance to get their tournament off to a flying start, especially after scoring four goals in both of their warm-up matches.

PREDICTION: Scotland to win at 1.60 odds

Australia vs Turkiye

Australia arrived in North America off the back of another comfortable qualifying campaign, which produced just one defeat and 38 goals scored.

The perennial ‘dark horses’ Turkiye head into the tournament with a kind group and aspirations of a deep run after the breakouts of Arda Güler and Kenan Yildiz.

Vincenzo Montella’s side have won seven and drawn one of their last eight friendlies heading into their group opener and will fancy their chances on Sunday.

PREDICTION: Turkiye to win either halves at 1.39 Odds

Netherlands vs Japan

Netherlands meet Japan in the World Cup at Dallas Stadium on 14 June 2026.

Both teams arrive with similar recent form, as the Netherlands have won four of their last six matches and Japan have won four of their last six.

Netherlands may have the edge if they can turn possession and pressure into clear chances, while Japan’s consistency makes them a difficult opponent to control.

PREDICTION: Netherlands to win either halves at 1.52 Odds

Saudi Arabia vs Uruguay

Saudi Arabia impressed at the last World Cup in Qatar, beating Argentina in the group stage.

The match brings together a Saudi Arabia side aiming to stay disciplined against a Uruguay team usually associated with structure and competitive edge at major tournaments.

With limited margins often shaping opening World Cup fixtures, control in midfield and efficiency in front of goal could prove decisive.

With new faces in the Uruguay squad, they should get a win.

PREDICTION: Uruguay to win either halves at 1.24 Odds

Belgium vs Egypt

Belgium face Egypt in the World Cup at Seattle Stadium.

Belgium come into the match with six wins from their last ten fixtures, giving them a solid recent record ahead of the tournament meeting.

Egypt have drawn half of their last six matches, a trend that points to resilience and a tendency to keep contests close.

With the golden era gone, Belgium will be hoping the old guys left can do something special at this World Cup.

PREDICTION: Belgium to win either halves at 1.34 Odds
