This week marked the start of the round of 16 second-leg fixtures in the UEFA Champions League and we picked out the best goals from the four games that were played.
From individual brilliance, to deafening counter attacks, there were some excellent goals scored this week in the Champions League as four sides booked their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain
Kylian Mbappe was at the forefront of Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 victory against Real Sociedad on Tuesday, which booked the French giants a place in the quarter-final of the Champions League.
The French attacker scored an excellent goal in the 15th minute of the game after he picked the ball up out wide and made some space with some intricate footwork before placing the ball in the far corner past Alex Remiro.
Manuel Akanji, Manchester City
Manchester City breezed past FC Copenhagen in the Last 16 of the Champions League after they won 6-2 on aggregate, and Manuel Akanji scored the goal of the game in the second-leg.
The ball was whipped in from a Julian Alvarez corner, and Akanji emphatically volleyed the ball home to give his side the early lead in just the fifth minute of the match, which left a mountain to climb for the visitors to come back from.
Mohamed Elyounoussi, FC Copenhagen
FC Copenhagen went crashing out of the Champions League last night, with Manchester City having far too much quality for the Danish side but Elyounoussi scored a brilliant goal in the 29th minute of the second-leg.
The visitors did not see much of the ball on the night, but they did manage to catch City out when they impressively counter attacked the hosts with Elyounoussi finishing off the moves after he played a one- two with Orri Oskarsson and fired home past Ederson in the City net.
